Tasted by gilrbo on 10/21/2022: This took a while to come together: at first it showed some oak and the palate seemed unbalanced and not well integrated. But after several hours the oak dissipated and all the components blended into a seamless and lovely, firm and mineral wine. For some the red of the evening (but only at the end of it). (585 views)
Tasted by aquacongas on 9/26/2020 & rated 92 points: blind
nailed it, very elegant but with a lot of power. Dark cherries, spicy, some black currant, very saline. Everything at his Right place. 92 (1449 views)
Tasted by dream on 6/22/2019 & rated 93 points: Beautiful nose of black cherry and smoky minerals. Really delicious ripe black cherry fruit accompanied by vibrant, fresh acidity giving the wine a mouth-watering juiciness. Quite rich and intense but also structured and refined with a strong mineral content that shows up on the complex finish which also has great floral lift. This is gorgeous to drink now but has the balance and stuffing to grow even more complex over the next few years. I really like the way this wine ages. 93+ (1592 views)
Tasted by Kris G on 2/10/2019 & rated 90 points: black fruits, soft, firm acids and tannins, spicy, still showing young (1650 views)
Tasted by moods on 12/14/2018 & rated 89 points: Enjoyable wine. Plenty of dark dense fruit. Brooding. Tough tannin, hugely chewy. Lovely freshness/lift thru the palate. Needs some air time to really open it up. (1711 views)

Tasted by dream on 12/19/2017 & rated 92 points: Interesting nose of iodine, dark berries and mineral spice. Needs a bit of time to open and then shows rich dark cherry medicinal fruit combined with good acidity and freshness. Finishes with good intensity and a unique mineral flavor. A fairly structured version of this wine that still needs a few years for the complexity to blossom. 92+ (1646 views)
Tasted by Tony Molester on 10/3/2017: Started to show well, and this was the last bottle.
Isn't that always the way? This is short term, doubt it would make old bones.

Tasted by AndreRibeiroChaves on 9/16/2017 & rated 92 points: A Delicious smell of flowers and vanilla. Light body, discreet tanins, lively acidity. Long finish with a small ammoun of bitter. Notes of Wood, red fruits, and some stone/Chalk. Paired very well with a tomato and cheese tartine appetizer and then with a main dish of Pork. I'd did remind me a bit of a Barbera D'alba, although more floral and fruity. (1447 views)
Tasted by dream on 12/9/2016 & rated 91 points: A bit of time in the cellar and more of the structure and minerality has come out to offset the very ripe fruit in this vintage. It is drinking nicely now with smoky dark cherry fruit and the classic and unique mineral flavors that make this wine so compelling. Delicious and a great match for Puttanesca sauce. 91+ (2118 views)
Tasted by Tony Molester on 8/11/2015: Cork was in acceptable condition. Popped and poured.
brilliant ruby
N: oak, fresh strawberry, something floral. Summery.
P: Cherry, herbal, sweet/savoury finish was perfect with Lebanese mixed grill. Still has some grip, will fare better in 5+ years.
Unexpectedly good wine
Drink or hold to 2022.

Tasted by m_arcon on 7/29/2015 & rated 93 points: Great nose with a mix of dried plums, slightly red currant a bit of leather & mushrooms, underlaid with a certain sweetness. A hint of heat on the palate but its soften out with a little more time. Great acid, wonderful integrated tannins & oak which gives the wine more structure without overperforming the fruit. Great backbone & super elegant finish. Still plenty of time ahead. I'm really impressed. (2547 views)
Tasted by gilrbo on 1/17/2014: Popped and poured and followed over 4 days.
Garnet red of medium depth, clear.
Nose: red berries, cherry, but rather sour and with a herbal touch - the latter is stronger at the beginning and slowly fades away. Also a dusty sweet note (at the beginning smelled like vanilla from oak). On day two and three a bit of fresh paint smell. Kept changing somewhat and was not always pleasant, although at times it was.
On the palate it's been a long fight between acidity and fruit/body. Fine-grained tannins also contribute to the structure. At times it was in perfect balance, at times just a bit too tart. The finish is on blood oranges and leaves a fine aftertaste. Quite fine overall, but I think this hasn't settled yet. It has fine components which hopefully will find a good balance in time.
No question that it is a lively wine!

Tasted by Zweder on 10/21/2013 & rated 88 points: Retailer tasting: Juicy, good cherries and acidity. Ripe fruits. Some autumn impressions and spiciness as well. A touch of sweetness and a bit drying in the finish. An ok wine with some complexity. (3828 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 5/20/2013: I thought this was outstanding wine. Serene. Couldn't quite wrap my head all the way around it. Which I guess means it is both really complex and really intriguing. Whew. (3354 views)
Tasted by breadandwine on 4/16/2013 & rated 88 points: Drank it yesterday. Garnet colour (Get it?! Granato? Garnet?...) "Secretive" nose with hints of oak, dark fruit, mineral and some tarry-like touches. Well balanced in the mouth, nice acidity, powerful tannins and a long finish. Why the "lower" score then? Well, after a while the wine lost nearly all its aroma's and became unbalanced in the mouth with a pronounced acidity. Our last glasses were simply sour. Strange. Did anyone else experience the same? (2694 views)
Tasted by Zweder on 10/20/2012: Retailer tasting: In the bouquet a firm dose of barnyard and earthy impressions. In the mouth still very primary juicy fruits, some metal and also earthiness and drying tannin. The wine is much too young and everything still has to integrate. Hope the brettiness will not dominate at a later stage. Waiting until 2016 might be wise. 88+ by then??? No "official" score. (3138 views)

Teroldego

Teroldego A vine of northern Italy’s Trentino-Alto-Adige zone, Teroldego is thought to have arrived there from the area of Verona around the shores of Lake Garda. It was first documented by name in various works of the early 1800s, and has more recently been shown to be genetically related to the Syrah, Marzemino and Lagrein varieties. It is planted almost exclusively in the Campo Rotaliano in the Adige Valley north of Trento, and its sole appellation of origin is Teroldigo Rotaliano D.O.C.

Teroldego takes its name from its traditional method of cultivation, trained on a system of “tirelle” or wire harnesses. A cool-climate vine, it is hardy, vigorous and potentially prolific, and best suited to permeable, well drained soils. It has large, pentagonal, three-lobed leaves and the compact, elongated, pyramidal bunches support medium to small, round, blue black berries with thick, resistant, dusky skins. The fruit is low in tannin but high in aroma, color, extract, acidity, sugar and potential alcohol.

Teroldego is easily overcropped to produce bright, fresh, balanced, fruity wines to be drunk young. Its personality is transformed if yield is restricted, when it offers lush, concentrated dark stone fruit and black cherry flavors and aromas offset by smoke, herb and bitter almond notes. It is marked by a particularly fine acidic balance and complexity, and restrained oak contact rounds out its structure. Alternate names: Tiroldola, Tiraldega.
