| Community Tasting Notes (average 83.8 pts. and median of 85 pts. in 5 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by ChipGreen on 9/4/2014 & rated 88 points: Still drinking great. Spicier than before with raspberry jam aromatics and flavors. Medium tannins, medium body, medium finish. Nice pizza wine. Drank over 5-6 days, Vacu-Vin'd between glasses and it held up incredibly well. (1729 views) | | Tasted by ChipGreen on 8/25/2012 & rated 87 points: Smooth, enjoyable Zinfandel that drinks well with or without food. Raspberries on the nose and palate with a little spice on the back end. This is not a big jammy Zin, it's more delicate and subdued - the kind of Zin that might appeal to a Pinot Noir fan. Screw caps are becoming more common and are not really an indicator of quality (or lack thereof). Do not fear the screw cap! (3277 views) | | Tasted by strongry on 8/14/2012 & rated 75 points: Meh. Very boring on the nose. Got some fruit - maybe blackberry? That's about it. The taste was pretty blah too. Disappointing. Not to get carried away - it was not awful. I certainly would not buy it again, though. (3043 views) | | Tasted by qwerty2 on 6/23/2012 & rated 84 points: This was okay, but nothing to write home about. I have so very many excellent wines that I'll probably use it in cooking, or even in a nice salad dressing (Zinfandels are excellent for this). I've had other wines from this winery, including Zinfandels, that I liked much better. Nobody's perfect, I suppose.
I forgot to mention something that should have been a tip off for me that this was going to be less than stellar. It had a screw cap. (3096 views) |

Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sierra FoothillsAmador |
