Community Tasting Notes (average 91.6 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 26 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Finare Vinare on 2/24/2021 & rated 92 points: Still hard as nails. Quite demanding, but with some adaptation also rewarding. Can surely go for several years more. (1197 views)
Tasted by zigzag on 9/19/2020: Drinking perfectly right now! Very crisp, bright lemony minerality (858 views)
Tasted by dron_ap on 5/12/2016 & rated 92 points: med high acidity. Not sweet notes. Lime, citrus, peach. Allow this 3-4 years (3200 views)
Tasted by Lasseth61 on 4/23/2016 & rated 91 points: The colour is yellow with a touch of gold.
The wine has an appealing nose/ taste of pineapples, pear, lemoncandy, honey, a touch of petrol, mineral...
The acid is still high. This will drink well for at least 5 years. (3042 views)
Tasted by WineCuentista on 6/30/2015 & rated 93 points: Appearance: Clear wine with a medium lemon colour.

Nose: Clean nose with a medium+ intensity. This wine is developing.

Beautiful white fruit on the nose, ripe pears, Apricots and a slight note of lychee. First minerality coming through underneath this with a very soft kerosene note - expect this to grow considerably with bottle age.

Palate:
Alcohol: Medium
Acidity: High
Body: Medium
Intensity: Pronounced
Finish: Long

A well balanced palate where the lemon and grapefruit sits in harmony with the softer peach and apricots. Crushed stone lasts long into the finish. Very slightly honeyed but very subtle.

Outstanding quality German Riesling. This wine can be drunk now but is clearly developing and will continue to do so for many more years. Price tag is a little high but if you are a fan of this sort of wine - definitely recommended. (3454 views)
Tasted by HStaal on 1/10/2015 & rated 91 points: WSET Level 4 Course - WSET School; 9/6/2014-5/23/2015 (WSET School, Bermondsey): Appearance: The wine is Clear with a Medium lemon colour.
Nose: The nose is Clean and Developing, showing Pronounced intensity primary aromas of lemon, lime, grapefruit, peach, apricot and tertiary aromas of petrol.
Palate: The wine is Dry in the mouth with a High level of acidity. It has a Medium Level of alcohol (12.50%). It has Medium(+) body and Pronounced intensity primary flavours of lemon, lime, grapefruit, peach, apricot and tertiary flavours of petrol. The finish is Long. Edging off-dry, very aromatic
Overall: Long finish, good structure and concentration. Good potential to age.
Conclusion: It is an Outstanding quality wine. Can Drink Now but has Potential for Ageing This has the structure to reward ageing and allowing complexity to develop ; Premium priced (£31.00) (6238 views)
Tasted by PT insurgent on 9/11/2014: WSET Diploma Semester 1 Block B; 9/8/2014-9/11/2014: Med+ intensity on the nose. Stone fruit, peach, apricot, honey, slight petrol, orange peel. Very ripe.
Dry, high acid, med+ body, long finish, notes of stone fruit, peach, apricot, citrus, lemon, grapefruit, beautiful orange peel and oil notes.
Fantastic wine. Still very young, massive potential. (4029 views)
Tasted by mystycreek on 6/29/2014 & rated 91 points: Young, heavy and full body. Full of stone and minerals, peach, lemon, green apple and white flowers. Cold and deep. Need some more time to develop. (1969 views)
Tasted by eivindpeivind on 5/1/2014 & rated 91 points: Sitrus og tropiske frukter i en svært syrefrisk nese. Fremdeles ung. (2193 views)
Tasted by RayOB on 2/18/2014 & rated 90 points: Drank at the RAC
Had with Oysters so the Acidity was balanced. Still quite young (1815 views)
Tasted by EirikM on 12/7/2013 & rated 89 points: The acidity could cut through just about anything, and is too much to be enjoyable without food. Still quite tight, but by no means without (stone) fruit. I like the wine, but find it somewhat disjointed. (1596 views)
Tasted by Fabio79 on 8/3/2012 & rated 91 points: Very young and tight, some residual sugar. 2010-level of acidity. Will improve for sure. Very good. (2892 views)
Tasted by Finare Vinare on 12/10/2011 & rated 93 points: Second time around with this wine, the first was a month ago at the property. The nose displays extremely mineral notes of dark stones and cold steel, with a few drops of petrol. Fruit holds back for now, but shows great depth with aromas of yellow peach, lemon zest and granny smith. Just a bit of flintsmoke, herbs and spice to top it of. Palate is tight and youthful, yet open for business, with very concentrated, focused yellow aromas and soaring acids. Together they take off and carry on into the long, impressive finish. From the first sniff to the last mingling notes the minerality is very grippy, powerful and linear - it never lets you off the hook. Tonight slighty more open than last time, this wine has tons of class and character. A beauty that will need five years to show all it's got. Wonder stuff. (3425 views)

#2014 Vintage Notes:
2014 Vintage Report by Terry Theise
2014 Vintage Report by Wine Spectator
"My gut still tells me the Saar (and to some extent) the Ruwer are better overall in 2014 than the more storied areas of the Mosel proper, but those that spent the requisite time living in their middle-Mosel vineyards made some of the most electric and "feathery" Riesling in a long time (maybe the finest in 20 years - yes, it's true!)" - Jon Rimmerman (Of course only a very short historical memory would call the Saar and Ruwer less 'storied' than the middle Mosel - jht)
