Tasted by edgar on 12/22/2023 & rated 94 points: wow. this is in an awesome place right now. decant for 30 min and just brilliant. strawberry, blueberry and blackberries, fruit, tobacco, sage, eucalyptus, it kept evolving over 4 h what a ride. tannins are perfect, finish is great. This was a fantastic bottle (638 views)
Tasted by BigBoy_Sonoma on 6/10/2023 & rated 94 points: Aging gracefully and probably in a great drinking window, but will last another 5-8 years.

Black fruit, cedar, spice, cassis, cedar, herbal notes, tannins well integrated, lots of secondary notes in the herbal notes like dried spices, maybe sage. There is also some candied notes of fruit. A (94) (1089 views)
Tasted by wessims on 3/22/2023 & rated 93 points: Decanted for 2+ hours and consumed over about 90 minutes. Well developed subtle fruit-toward, strawberries and ripe currant with soft blueberry notes. Not a jammy fruit bomb despite a nose and presentation that lends itself to less sophistication and more fruit up front. Excellent mouth feel and a well balanced finish. Very drinkable. Highly enjoyable. Pretty close to a mid-90s wine and something I’d easily give 95 points to but I think 93 may more accurately reflect the tasting community.

Probably has another couple years in the cellar. But great decision to drink now. (1239 views)
Tasted by SonnyChiba on 7/24/2022 & rated 93 points: Loads of ripe strawberry and blueberry. A touch of sweetness but not off putting. Very elegant and overall solid wine. Good to drink now (with 30 min+ decant helped) but long life ahead. (2046 views)
Tasted by agsdlswine on 6/9/2022 & rated 95 points: Delicious well aged Cab enjoyed for a special occasion. Decanted for 3 hours w/the wine continuing to open up getting better & better. Plenty of secondary flavors present along w/a solid fruit presence. Enjoy if you have a bottle of this special wine. (2005 views)
Tasted by elevwine on 2/26/2022 & rated 92 points: Graceful, elegant. Seemed more like a Bordeaux blend. Tannins fully resolved. (2049 views)
Tasted by travelme on 6/6/2021 & rated 91 points: Dark and deep purple and black in color. Bordeaux like qualities and structure at this stage. Secondary notes dominated more than the fruit. The wine was smooth and provided a small hint of earth and forest floor on the nose. Decanted and strained as the bottle spit off sediment everywhere. A good solid performance for this one. Glad I have another five lingering. I will likely move to drink this soon because I don’t think it gets much better from here based on my palate. (2759 views)
Tasted by Honeyburst on 3/14/2021 & rated 89 points: Not my kind of wine. Warm, friendly dark fruits with a marked touch of vanilla from the oak that cannot entirely hide a clear fingerprint from the rather high alcohol level. (15%)
I desperately miss the structure and backbone that proper acidity could have provided if present.
Super well made and I guess all of the above is mainly a function of deliberate choices by the winemaker combined with the options that the climate and the soil provide - for better or worse. (2532 views)
Tasted by americanstorm on 3/8/2021 & rated 94 points: Two hour decant. Typical cab nose of cassis, bell pepper and dark fruit. Complex palette of dark fruits, licorice, leather and minerals. This will probably last at least another ten to fifteen years. While not cheap, it is a reasonable bargain among high end napa cabs. Was the wotn for a few at the party. Impressive wine. 94+ (2150 views)
Tasted by travelme on 8/22/2020 & rated 92 points: A top flight Cabernet with some great fruit. Still had a great tannin and fruit structure. I think this could go another 5-10 years easily. Great nose and wonderful dark red and a hint of black fruit on the palate. I was extremely pleased as were most who tasted it tonight. (2667 views)
Tasted by Scottwhipp on 6/22/2020 & rated 94 points: Soft and smooth mouthfeel. Black fruit and plum. Soft tannins on the finish. Recommend drinking now. (2560 views)
Tasted by markcic on 6/1/2020 & rated 92 points: I opened and let it slow ox for three hours then we drank the bottle slowly over the next 4 hours. The nose was dark berries and mocha. The palate was blueberry, dark plums, tobacco and mocha. The finish was moderate to long. Served with simply grilled steak. (2190 views)
Tasted by SalN on 1/28/2020 & rated 91 points: Had this next to the 2013. This was tighter, not as smooth as the 2013. I probably would not buy this year again. (2617 views)
Tasted by markcic on 9/1/2019 & rated 92 points: Much better than the bottle I had a year and a half ago. Opened and slow ox'd for 8 hours before dinner. Dark fruit on the nose. The palate was dark berries, dark plums, charred meat, licorice and a hint of spice. The finish was long. (2936 views)
Tasted by BigBoy_Sonoma on 6/21/2019 & rated 89 points: Tart fruit, black fruit, cedar, smokiness, eucalyptus, leather, graphite. A-/B+ (2265 views)
Tasted by dmccann3 on 2/13/2019 & rated 94 points: One of my all time favorites and at 10 years in a perfect drinking window. A full bodied fruit forward wine that has a near endless finish. (2713 views)
Tasted by Quiet Lion on 12/16/2018 & rated 94 points: This is showing beautifully on pop and pour. Lovely balanced classic Cabernet. (3087 views)
Tasted by GJVines on 12/1/2018 & rated 92 points: Very nice, still has a few years left to age. (3016 views)
Tasted by floridawinedrkr on 6/22/2018 & rated 92 points: Give this at least 3-4 hours to get going and its really a good solid wine that will deliver. This will get better with more time in the bottle. (3662 views)
Tasted by greedy on 5/19/2018 & rated 98 points: As I said in my Last tasting know a few years ago, this is simply one of the best bottles of wine I’ve ever had. Second only to a 2001 Solaia. I drank this out of a magnum over two nights and it was just as good night two

Delicious brambled fruit on nose. Tannins that my wife described as “I just want to crunch it”.

Long long long silky finish with no bitterness.

But not a fruit bomb like caymus or Paul Hobbs. 14.5 alcohol not present like a Cade cab

This is so good. I disagree with some others on ct. this wine has the fruit and the acidity to cellar for a long time. Especially in the magnum format. Will not revisit my last two magnums for at least ten years.

Wow I love this wine. (3595 views)
Tasted by BigBoy_Sonoma on 3/3/2018 & rated 93 points: Black fruit, blue fruit, plums, cedar, tobacco, cedar, a- (3443 views)
Tasted by Bodyfxr on 2/16/2018 & rated 95 points: Decanted for approximately 45 minutes. This was outstanding. A wonderful nose of jammy dark fruits, cassie, vanilla. Even better on the palate with Soft silky finish. Drinking beautifully now. Wish I had more. (3064 views)
Tasted by vegasoenophile on 1/20/2018 & rated 93 points: Drinking lovely. Richly decadent creme de cassis. Velvety texture and blackcurrant and liquer flavors with a tinge of mint and a slight hint of licorice. Nice balance. (3093 views)
Tasted by HueBreCellars on 11/18/2017 & rated 88 points: This was a really nice treat for Claire's Birthday. The wine was more delicate than powerful, but it had elements of everything people have mentioned, including light menthol, a bit of chalky earth, ripe (not fresh) red and black berries, with a slight smokey and peppery middle and finish.

The way this wine was originally stored may have taken away some years of life, but this was drinking extremely well and the tannins came to life about 1 hour into dinner and with the Japanese food (lots of umami) the flavours really became more vibrant and expressive.

I felt like it was a good value, but this was a magnum, so it may have evolved differently than a 750. (2887 views)
Tasted by markcic on 11/5/2017 & rated 87 points: I have not tried a bottle in almost a year and a half. Opened for 7 hours prior to dinner. There was dark fruit on the nose, the palate was dark berry, plum, dried herbs and a touch of mocha. The problem was it was all muted, nothing stood out. The finish was uneven. Perhaps an off bottle, but very disappointing especially with its pedigree and at this price point. (2857 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
