Community Tasting Notes (average 83 pts. and median of 84 pts. in 4 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by klezman on 11/21/2013: PnP at cellar temp - nose is a bit muted but it's got whiffs of earth, mint, and some light red fruit. Light bodied, low viscosity (as expected) and with flavours of wood, cranberry, and maybe rosemary.

With air it developed some smokiness and more depth. Nice cool climate Meritage blend. (1919 views)
Tasted by Vino Me on 9/4/2012 & rated 79 points: Tasted at the South Haven tasting room. 39% Cab Sauvignon, 39% Merlot and 22% Cab Franc. About the equal of (maybe slightly below) the 2004 vintage that I've had. Weedy with some currant flavors. 79 points. (1320 views)
Tasted by BlackIce on 1/26/2012 & rated 84 points: The 2008 vintage is the best so far of this vertical (2006 - 2009). Still very light in color and not typically representative of the component varietals: 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc. CT user "lyndatrue" is slightly ahead of me in drinking this vertical. (1266 views)
Tasted by qwerty2 on 1/21/2012 & rated 86 points: This, like the 2007, was much better than the 2006 that I started with. It's not a bad wine, although I wouldn't buy it again. It's not very complex, and awfully lightweght considering that it's blended with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon (among others). Okay with dinner, but not what you'd want to impress discerning friends with. (1249 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
