Tasted by Jerry D on 1/15/2012: Fruit for our Viognier comes from an area near the Sacramento Delta. This was a new wine area that we have heard little about. It was and is an amazing find. The grapes were harvested in September of 2009. Characteristics of this Viognier include apricot, peach and other stone fruit flavors. It is dry and pleasantly spicy in the finish. The alcohol is 13.5%, and the wine is perfectly balanced This wine, while fruity is absolutely dry. This Viognier was aged in Hungarian oak (60%) and the rest in stainless steel. The wine in stainless was stirred on the lees for approximately 4 months to increase its creamy aspects. If a few words could describe the 2009 Viognier, they would be "Crisp, Balanced and Fruity", with a very nice long finish. This iwine is great for sipping or as an accompaniment to any fish or fowl dish. Cheeses are easily paired with this wine, and we often do just this! (2247 views)

Viogner is wrong wine

This is nonsense.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
