Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 93.4 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 99 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by King Julien on 2/12/2024 & rated 95 points: Decanted about 30 minutes. Beautiful nose and nice palate to match. It was good a few years ago but the complexity and depth have improved now with a bit more age. Probably near their peak, but no hurry. (362 views)
Tasted by oldwines on 1/27/2024 & rated 95 points: Last of 4 bottles acquired shortly after release. Decanted a hour before tasting at cellar temperature over several hours. 14% Labeled ABV. Wonderfully balanced wine. Bright medium golden yellow. Nose has roasted nuts, cream, orchard fruit, wet stones and citrus. Palate has nice texture with bright acidity. The cream and butter notes ebb and flow over time with varying degrees of emphasis. In the end more orchard fruit than citrus with an undertone of minerals. Extremely long with great depth. Finish has some herbal, ginger and floral notes that make this fresh to the last drop. At or slightly after peak but certainly not in serious decline if cellared well. Really beautiful with a goat cheese, olive and sun-dried tomato tapenade. (570 views)
Tasted by lesz on 1/18/2024 & rated 93 points: beautiful (393 views)
 Tasted by om42 on 1/1/2024 & rated 95 points: Spectacular. (446 views)
Tasted by edge on 11/4/2023 & rated 95 points: In its prime. Concentrated, viscous with great balance. Flinty minerality with a long finish. Lots of life left. (731 views)
Tasted by KVM on 9/28/2023: In fine fruit, deep, with a long finish. A hint of baked apple at the very end. Been in my cellar since release. (754 views)
Tasted by Old Claret on 9/10/2023 & rated 98 points: delicious white burg (575 views)
Tasted by SteelerFan on 8/19/2023 & rated 94 points: Excellent. Improved in the glass with honey, cardinal and light berry notes. Still has plenty of life. (612 views)
Tasted by Old Claret on 6/4/2023 & rated 97 points: surprisingly wonderful! (833 views)
Tasted by lightning on 2/18/2023 & rated 91 points: Emirates First Class Lounges, Dubai; 2/13/2023-2/18/2023: Slightly muted nose, violets, white fruits, stones. Intense stones on midpalate, medium to full bodied and unctuous, persistent. A lot of power. There’s reasonable acidity for this one. (1198 views)
Tasted by SixHedgehogs on 12/10/2022 & rated 92 points: A month off; 12/10/2022-1/5/2023 (Dubai Sydney Canberra): Full yellow. Aroma of musk, straw and toast. Mirabelle plum flavour. Touch of oak, cream, rancid lemon. Balanced yet quite austere. Good food wine. (1268 views)
Tasted by FluffyGTX on 11/13/2022 & rated 94 points: Some butter, some perfect acidity, some fermentation. One of my favorites. (1174 views)
 Tasted by mphatic on 10/17/2022: {Emirates lounge, Dubai}
Mid gold colour.
Butterscotch, apple, marzipan, melon, peach. Iron. Oak in background. Minor tca?
Buttery, and A little washed out of flavour on the palate. Showing some oxidation but not full-on. Nice acidity and phenolic grip across the back palate, and a moderate-long length, mineral and fig finish. Initially thought this was slightly scalped, but it seemed to open up in the glass. (1084 views)
Tasted by Jeremy Holmes on 9/17/2022: Some butterscotch advancement. It is quite peachy and has some almond butter too. There’s some lavender from a touch of botrytis. A gentle kiss of acidity punctuated the finish. (1275 views)
Tasted by Kellch on 8/12/2022 & rated 94 points: Drank @laresidencia Deia. Ripe color. No decant & drank over 2hrs. Muted smell but nice taste - mineral, stone, chalky & well rounded wine. (933 views)
Tasted by Fuel55 on 2/4/2022 & rated 93 points: Classic Corton. Perfectly mature and ready to drink - lots of lemon, apple, acidity. Great balance. Gets rounder as it warms in the glass. (1303 views)
Tasted by jmoore431 on 1/14/2022 & rated 94 points: Medium golden; nose of bruised apple, lemon and touch of oak; great texture and palate of mature white burgundy, a bit buttery and just hints of melon (from aging); some refined acidity kicking in to carry to a long finish. Great with Rock’s crab cakes with remoulade. (1469 views)
Tasted by thadiesel3 on 1/9/2022 & rated 96 points: Pale gold in color. Really drinking wonderfully right now (but still has great acidity and lots of life left). Baked apples, lemon zest, stone and a dash of spice on the nose. Very creamy mouth feel on the front, but leaves you with a zingy mineral finish at the end. Reminds me of why I love white burgundy so much. (1210 views)
Tasted by happy712 on 7/24/2021 & rated 94 points: Suggest a 30 minute decant. Smoky crisp, hint of butter, nice acidity. Great with salmon. (1879 views)
Tasted by T.E.D. on 7/10/2021 & rated 90 points: Similar to my previous bottle back in 2019. Relatively muted abs flat to a degree. With air time showing good minerality and citrus. Velvety but in a flat way. Lacking acid as noted by others. (1644 views)
Tasted by oldwines on 10/10/2020 & rated 96 points: Decanted and kept at cellar temperature for 2 hours before returning to the bottle and taking to a friend’s house for dinner. Big but still elegant wine. Medium yellow gold color. Nose has some reduction and smokey elements that indicate grilled nectarine with some citrus and some slightly saline and mineral sensations. Palate is richly textured and slightly chewy with a honeyed note along with the grilled stone fruit and lemon pith on the finish. Very long and layered with bright acidity and yet a silky finish. Stupendous with a roasted home grown beet salad with ricotta, truffle honey, marinated grape tomatoes, cucumber and mint. The mint and honey flavors were significantly heightened with the wine. Really a wonderful bottle of wine that has many years of evolution ahead. Best bottle so far...one left. (2586 views)
Tasted by King Julien on 8/11/2020 & rated 94 points: Decanted about an hour. (2107 views)
Tasted by winelover1808 on 8/3/2020 & rated 94 points: WOTN for our dinner. a deep golden hue but fortunately not pre-moxed. this was terrific. complex. pineapple/lemon with great acidity, lots of minerality, and a hard to describe MJ like funk perfume to this. Long finish. this is really great and probably at its peak now. (2121 views)
Tasted by brianakrin on 7/30/2020 & rated 93 points: Ripe and ready. Deep golden color, Rich, round, big and balanced. Drink now (1625 views)
Tasted by Hanibal on 7/10/2020 & rated 91 points: Has that power and weight but not the balance of the mineral acidic side to give it a nice pop...seemed heavy (2136 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
