Tasted by ssouth on 1/7/2021 & rated 92 points: Rich and gently sweet. Great intensity . Nice red fruit profile with some minor drying tannins
Hit such higher than the price would suggest. Many years left (667 views)
Tasted by JWG on 10/5/2019 & rated 89 points: Still holding up in a lovely way, see notes from 2018 which are still true. (861 views)
Tasted by JWG on 8/21/2019 & rated 88 points: Slightly not as snappy a Rufina as in the past years. Probably over the hump -- But still delicious. (890 views)
Tasted by JWG on 5/26/2019 & rated 89 points: A touch less excellent than the last bottle, but delicious nonetheless. (936 views)
Tasted by jonr on 4/27/2019 & rated 86 points: When opend, cellarsmelly. Needed some air and time to clear up. Smell of mature Rufina with old oaky, almost barn-smell. Also some mature dark red treefruit. And some black mountainberry. (Krekling in Norwegian).
Taste of dark fruit with an edge of Little bitter Mountainberrys in ending and aftertaste. Would been good follower to roasted red meat, with its good bodied style. This wine has developed a lot to the drinkability with storing years in cellar. This was a gift from a good winefriend, now past away. Chears to him! (976 views)
Tasted by JWG on 7/4/2018 & rated 90 points: A consistency over the years that still holds. A delicious Rufina with the same qualities as previously described. (840 views)
Tasted by BostonDoug on 5/29/2018 & rated 88 points: So at first I was not taken by this wine. PnP ... as it opened in the glass it became more floral and was wonderfully simple. Not over powering in any way but still I delighted in it's delicate simplicity. It is a "very good" wine. (710 views)
Tasted by JWG on 1/15/2018 & rated 90 points: Similar notes to my bottle last year. (802 views)
Tasted by JWG on 4/30/2017 & rated 90 points: Another excellent bottle of this refined, "Rufina" house. Chianti perfume of dark cherries and leather. Juicy palate with excellent fruit/acid balance. (1143 views)
Tasted by ChristP on 1/1/2016 & rated 84 points: Last tasted 17 Oct 2014 when I rated it 75. Back then it was thin, and the taste was dominated by sulfites. Since then, there has been a distinct improvement with modest aromas of red fruits that are replicated on the palate. Chianti Rufina can take 6 years to reach its best. I therefore probably suffered last time from poor end of the range in bottle to bottle variation combined with drinking it a couple of years too young. I still don't rate this Rufina as any better than "Good"; hence the score of 84. It makes an OK table wine. I can't see the scope for further development, but the wine probably has a few years of stable drinking life ahead. (1898 views)
Tasted by Krimoe on 11/21/2015 & rated 89 points: Mye bedre enn forrige flaske. (1716 views)
Tasted by Erikhw on 1/24/2015 & rated 73 points: Likte ikke denne vinen. Tynn og stram i smaken. Uheldig med flasken?! (2170 views)
Tasted by nzinkgraf on 12/30/2014: Red fruit and a whiff of spearmint. Medium tannin, surprisingly. Red fruit and earthy aromas. Room to contemplate in the aromas. Palate has levity, but tannin. I'd say wonderfully put together medium body. Levity with tannin. Mossy herb on the palate, like a soft and textured carpet to this wine. (2057 views)
Tasted by ChristP on 10/17/2014 & rated 75 points: Opened and allowed to breath 1 hour. Tasted quite strongly of sulphites and artificial fruit flavouring. This was not what I expected from a 2010 Rufina. Could not finish more than 1/3 of the bottle. Judging from other comments, this might have just been an atypical bottle, or my taste buds that evening could have been off the mark. Will therefore give it another try in, say, 6 months or so. For now, I rate it well below average, hence 75. (1979 views)
Tasted by camben on 9/1/2014 & rated 90 points: No formal notes, but I remember a nice sweet fruit with a great earth balance (1641 views)
Tasted by Duncan on 3/30/2014 & rated 90 points: As before. Excellent. (2009 views)
Tasted by JWG on 3/29/2014 & rated 91 points: Even better than before. Fragrant cherries and earthy fruit. Palate is leathery, fruity, unctuous but with significant acidity that creates a great balance. (1641 views)
Tasted by JWG on 2/21/2014 & rated 89 points: Lovely chianti perfume of dark cherries, leather. Juicy palate with excellent fruit/acid balance. Just plain delicious Rufina. (1701 views)
Tasted by kdsipe on 1/12/2014 & rated 89 points: Great everyday Chianti. Very lightly colored with some bricking. Finely perfumed with rich plum, leather, dirt, herb and orange peal. Nice finesse and balance, if lacking focus and complexity. A notch or two above at its price point. (1663 views)
Tasted by JWG on 12/10/2013 & rated 89 points: Another excellent bright fruity version of Rufina. (1705 views)
Tasted by JWG on 11/4/2013 & rated 89 points: A bright fruity version this year. Extremely fragant cherries and strawberries both on the nose and palate. (1523 views)
Tasted by Eric Guido on 10/31/2013 & rated 88 points: The nose showed tart wild berry, dark floral tones, hints of barnyard and chalky minerals. On the palate, it was juicy with ripe dark fruit, plum and a touch of cinnamon spice. Hints of tannin and mouthwatering acidity made for an enjoyable finish as remnants of dark berry fruit and inner floral notes faded to a close. An excellent value and unmistakably Italian. (1921 views)
Tasted by Rezy13 on 10/15/2013: Crimson with lighter rim; perfumed, high toned red fruit, good ripeness, sexy; good texture and ripeness on the palate, sweet red fruit, a little leather underneath; very good; this is more drinkable than the Bucerchiale. (1420 views)
Tasted by fatherdamo on 9/14/2013 & rated 87 points: it needed time to open up. nice cherry flavours, it's good enough without being exciting. which is how it is priced. (1539 views)
Tasted by Rezy13 on 9/9/2013: Orangey, red fruit, light, tasty. (1245 views)

Sangiovese Blend

Sangiovese blend is used in CellarTracker for Italian wines to represent wines predominantly made of Sangiovese and blended with traditional Italian grapes. It is different than SuperTuscan which is a blend of Sangiovese with non-traditional (eg Bordeaux) varieties, often in closer to equal portions. For example, Chianti is at least 80% Sangiovese and will always be listed Sangiovese blend.
