Black tea and fruitcake offer an interesting flavor and aromatic profile while hints of iron and lavender provide some good Rhone-ish notes. (746 views) | | Tasted by dpolivy on 5/22/2012 & rated 89 points: Bought this wine on a recommendation from the shop, and wasn't sure what to expect. It's actually quite enjoyable, with good fruit, a silky body and very fine tannins on the finish. Despite the deep purple color, it's got a medium body that's not overpowering, though there's not a ton of depth. For the price, it's a solid value. (1269 views) |
| Roucas Toumbahttp://www.roucastoumba.com/vins.phpRed Rhone Blend Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.
A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
