Tasted by Raddle on 6/15/2023 & rated 93 points: Tastes like it’s at its peak. (583 views)
Tasted by flussier on 12/31/2022 & rated 93 points: Robe foncée. Vin rond, sur les fruits noirs avec une belle complexité. Excellent vin à boire maintenant, avec ses tannins souples. Vin parfait pour le Nouvel An, j’ai vraiment aimé. (922 views)
Tasted by actx on 6/28/2022 & rated 92 points: hate to say it but this is not going to go much longer. The 2009 still has more life in it. I love this wine but it is getting soft, very little tannins left and very oaky/vanilla coming thru. Still great but drink up. (1408 views)
Tasted by sastewart on 11/9/2021 & rated 92 points: Classic Napa floor cab. Red and black fruits, cassis and a bit of spice on the nose. Medium plus bodied with plenty of dark fruit and tannins. Nice finish. I suspect I can hold my last bottle another 5 years but these are in a good place now. 92 points. (1744 views)
Tasted by pkatz on 6/30/2020 & rated 92 points: Really nice, balanced cab. (2627 views)
Tasted by JohnSh on 5/22/2020: This is a big cab blend, with lots of black fruits and some dark chocolate. Drinking well now, but better on the second night, as the tannins subsided and the texture became more velvety. This is a very big wine, and a good wine in its style, but I've slowly become less and less keen on this type of wine (listed at 15%, and it definitely feels at least that). (2269 views)
Tasted by PSUSteve on 2/17/2020 & rated 92 points: PnP. This is rich and full of fruit primarily cherry. Some oak with light tannins. (2441 views)
Tasted by iamandyc on 1/19/2020 & rated 87 points: Might be fading. not as good as my bottle a year ago. Flavor profile was rather flat and tossing complexity. Hopefully just a bottle variation thing! (2323 views)
Tasted by RayT on 10/31/2019 & rated 90 points: Big nose of cassis but milder on the palette. This is a structured bottle of wine. Drank while handing out Halloween candy so no formal notes. I usually prefer this to the Mondavi Reserve although not a huge Mondavi fan. (2440 views)
Tasted by xxquadxx on 8/13/2019 & rated 92 points: Lovely wine as expected from Oakville. Wonderful nose of dark fruit and leather. Nicely matured, but presence of tannins clearly indicates more cellaring potential. I feel it's in a perfect drinking window now. Ever-so-sweet with lingering finish. Heavy but heavenly boysenberry presence with dark cherry on the palate. I have only 1 bottle left. Will re-visit in 3 years. Enjoy! (1794 views)
Tasted by actx on 6/6/2019 & rated 92 points: Still lots of life left in this vintage. Heavy tannins, subdued alcohol and nice vanilla/cedar finish. Color is beautiful and dark. (1941 views)
Tasted by whitmanlholt on 2/17/2019 & rated 90 points: Popped and poured. This is a dark-red wine that stains the whole mouth. There is some very minor sediment throughout the bottle, but nothing that warrants decanting. On the nose, I get currant, mint, and some tobacco leaf. In the mouth, this is mid-weight, with solid-yet-restrained fruit moving into a smooth finish that is marked by some oak-influenced flavors. Overall, this is a very classic Napa Cab right down the line. This is a wine with a top-notch QPR; one could do much, much worse for $40. 90 points. (2046 views)
Tasted by mpricher on 12/28/2018 & rated 91 points: Solid effort from Mondavi. The Oakville appellation does not disappoint. Brought considerable fruit and thunder to the Christmas evening dinner. Lovely stuff (2006 views)
Tasted by iamandyc on 12/21/2018 & rated 92 points: Good QPR. A little more structured endless syrupy than most vintages of this wine. Slightly redder profile as well. Drank a bit young even with air as the tannins were a little drying. Nice stuff with 2 hours of air. (1912 views)
Tasted by Tahlequahdave1972 on 2/2/2018 & rated 92 points: The wine was decanted for an hour and consumed over the next two. Aromas of red fruit and licorice, eucalyptus, cassis and floral notes. Flavors were expressive and included cherry, black fruits, coffee, dark pepper and hints of raspberry and tobacco. A medium mouthfeel that bordered on rich with an appealing, silky texture that was fully resolved and balanced. Finish was sustained, smooth and lingering. This wine is in a very good place and the drinking window is open. An exquisite, lovely offering. Excellent Cali cabernet. 92+ (3262 views)
Tasted by jset22 on 10/14/2017 & rated 88 points: Bit too much of everything. Drank hot (3383 views)
Tasted by John McCabe on 7/10/2017 & rated 89 points: This was disappointing on the first day - very savory, feels hot and over-done. I wonder if it had heat damage in transit or something. I've loved other vintages of this and had the '12 or '13 at the winery and it was extremely good, but not this.

Similar on the 2nd day - felt compressed, hot and flabby. (3912 views)
Tasted by jfutey on 3/12/2017 & rated 92 points: Incredible perfume on this right now. Outstanding aroma of Cassis on the nose and intense black cherry and Cassis on the palate. Great balance of acid, fruit profile and tannins, definitely not a cheap flabby fruit bomb. What an awesome value too! (4199 views)
Tasted by jeffjohnsonjj@hotmail.com on 12/25/2016 & rated 92 points: Deep and dark. Intense nose and noticeable oak on PnP, along with dark fruit. After a 2 hour decant, the tannins were much more present. So my guess is best to PnP and enjoy (a very nice Napa Cab), or wait a few years and hope the fruit outlasts the tannins (which I think they will). (4296 views)
Tasted by wino121 on 12/8/2016 & rated 91 points: Drink now- (3607 views)
Tasted by MatLot on 11/14/2016 & rated 91 points: Très bon produit, ce qu'un cab americain doit être (3198 views)
Tasted by whitmanlholt on 10/23/2016 & rated 91 points: Popped and poured. This is a dark red wine, one that leaves loads of color on the teeth and tongue. On the nose, this has all the classic notes of plum, cassis, and mint. The mouth is smooth and fruity, leaving a nice tannic bite on the finish. Overall, this is a solid cab and a nice QPR -- I've had lesser cabs at 2x or 3x the price. To be sure, this wine is a product, but it is an enjoyable product. 91 points. (2676 views)
Tasted by now_in_mi on 7/16/2016 & rated 92 points: Fantastic, great nose, flavor and feel. Everything exxpected in a great Napa CS. (2721 views)
Tasted by jperez68 on 7/8/2016 & rated 92 points: dinner with bobby and joanne this was third bottle so not quite our selves by then. heavier than the Altamura and palhmeyer but still had plenty of fruit, mid tannic and an earthy finish. (2057 views)
Tasted by floridawinedrkr on 6/20/2016 & rated 88 points: A good wine for sure at $40 a bottle. It falls short of a good score because the finish is too rough. This is my second go of it and I came up with the same thing again. (2576 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
