Tasted by Nico P. on 8/24/2018 & rated 90 points: 13.8%. Still drinking very well. (1343 views)
Tasted by Nico P. on 10/22/2017: 13.8%. Dusty high toned red fruit, black cherry and currants. Medium weight. Juicy and delicious. Peak drinking. Vintages after this have been north of 14%, so this particular vintage may be not the norm, but glad I still have one bottle left. (1683 views)
Tasted by Janstan on 4/18/2016 & rated 89 points: Tart cherry with cherry tobacco on finish. Went well with Italian style Gouda. Would go grilled New York strip (2358 views)
Tasted by jlhkiss on 12/31/2015 & rated 90 points: Balanced, simple mountain cab with lovely blackberry fruit and black currant sweetness. Paired well with pizza. Supple, juicy, and extremely dry on the finish, this can probably go another ten years but probably won't improve much. It's likely filled out its frame. Drink now. (2360 views)
Tasted by ChezAlice on 4/25/2015 & rated 86 points: A very nice wine, but drinking somewhat mild right now. Even after decanting, overall I thought was smooth, but not particularly expressive of any flavors. (2901 views)
Tasted by agorman on 6/4/2013 & rated 91 points: Deep ruby color, with glints of lighter red. Lovely dark fruit, including currents, in the nose, along with herbs. Round, satisfying fruit taste, full but dry, with more tannins on the medium finish. Very impressive, though not a muscular, more typical "Cal cab." Navarro continues to please and surprise us!  Tasted by topher18 on 4/14/2013 & rated 93 points: Deep purple with a reddish tint. Plum, blackberry nose. Nice and soft texture with moderate tannins. Some black cherry and blueberry join on the palate. Subtle, linear finish lingers a long time. Very nice.

Tasted by jlhkiss on 3/17/2013 & rated 91 points: Solid, old-school, rustic cab with plenty of blueberry currant and structure. Has a nice spice aroma, soft nose, currant/fruit mid-palate, and dusty, tannic finish. Exceeded expectations from a winery not known for their "power" wines. Great with variety of comfort foods. Enjoyed tonight with St. Patty's Day traditional corned beef, potatoes, cabbage, and soda bread. Good now but best years still ahead, ideal 2015-2020. (2376 views)
Tasted by Janstan on 2/16/2013 & rated 87 points: SLow to open. Sweet tobacco and black currant. (2390 views)
Tasted by ctbob on 12/16/2012: V. pleasant now, but will probably improve next 3-4 years; medium weight, in balance, good structure (2363 views)
Tasted by Nico P. on 12/5/2012 & rated 92 points: 13.8%. Medium dark red. Low key cab fruit more on the blackcurrant side. Supple but with good cut. Will go well with food. Gets better with air time, improved on day 2 and 3. Delicious. (1538 views)
Tasted by peolsf on 11/22/2012 & rated 91 points: Slightly minty nose, Dark cherry and plum, excellent structure and very approachable. Wish we had more. (1537 views)
Tasted by Doblk on 10/3/2012 & rated 88 points: I liked this much better than the 2006. Minty nose. Good fruit and well balanced tannins. Good food wine. (1552 views)
Tasted by jfarley3 on 9/16/2012 & rated 87 points: Lighter in style than most Cabs, has good acidity and therefore more compatible with many foods than most Cali Cab. However, it is a bit lean on the fruit. Notes of red berries and cacao. (1595 views)
Tasted by stevenc.rees@gmail.com on 9/8/2012 & rated 89 points: Tasty, a bit more tannin in the finish than I recalled, and it slightly overbalances the midpalate, too.
Good fruit; modest complexity showing right now. Long finish.
My last bottle, but I suggest you hold it 2 more years if you still have some. I think it will improve again. (1486 views)
Tasted by mdefreitas on 8/14/2012 & rated 92 points: This is my kind of Cab. Restrained, balanced but still flavorful and energetic. Bright cassis and plum fruit, perfectly ripe without any "prune" notes. A hint of tobacco leaf and herbs add complexity. Good length, with lively and accessible structure. I drank this with a bit of a chill (hot summer day) and it was wonderful. So easy to drink at 13.8% alcohol... lots of old-school goodness here. (1819 views)
Tasted by BigBoy_Sonoma on 7/8/2012 & rated 85 points: Dark fruit, cab, acidity, supple dry tannins, tight on the palate. B (921 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

North Coast

The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties. (see The Wine Institute for more information)
