 Tasted by ckinv368 on 1/29/2014 & rated 84 points: Notes of blood, earth, forest floor, leather, funk, and tobacco. Much better after it has been opened for some time. Not a ton of fruit, and some chemically taste on the back end of the palate. Not a stellar wine for sure, but good enough if it is exposed to a significant amount of air. Probably could have used to be double-decanted to allow the funk and chemical tastes to blow off. (1697 views)
 Tasted by cadamson on 2/27/2013 & rated 86 points: The '1' bottle, same basic score as the '2', though I think I enjoyed it more. For $10, are you kidding? Nice, easy to drink, basic Bordeaux characteristics. Sure, not horribly complex, or 'wow', but $10? (1836 views)
 Tasted by cadamson on 1/27/2013 & rated 86 points: This is the '2' bottle, not bad at all...but, a bit young and slightly hollow/thin on the mid palate. Tastes a little toasty, with dark fruit. (1815 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.
