(3705 views) | | Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 2/14/2014 & rated 83 points: Medium golden yellow color. Rich and toasty (obviously) on the nose, honeybutter and pineapple, golden apple and cinnamon. Rich and honeyed on the palate, with pineapple, butter biscuits, popcorn, actually some acid for some balance. Chunky pineapple and mango on the finish. Rich and simple, crowd-pleasing for those crowds who like this style. I know it’s supermarket stuff, but the wife likes it and, dammit, I can’t help but find it fun and tasty. (5103 views) | | Tasted by DbertCellar on 1/4/2014 & rated 88 points: Apricot, peach, and vanilla nose. Sweet and tart, lite buttery finish. Coconut toasted seems there in flavor. (5279 views) | | Tasted by SilverCabin on 10/14/2013 & rated 87 points: Always like the Oakley finish. (4149 views) | | Tasted by jonahfactor on 8/17/2013 & rated 83 points: No, the angels didn't sing. They never do with Cali-Chards at this price point. But at $8 a pop, this is quite a bit of fun, particularly if you like a slap of oak on the nose and palate. Some apricots, peaches, pears and tangerine and a nice dollop of butterscotch, especially in the finish. Purists will decry the heavy hand in the wood and alcohol department. But for a reasonably priced summertime sipper, this provides quite a bit of pleasure. (4560 views) | | Tasted by SilverCabin on 8/13/2013 & rated 89 points: Always a very good Chardonnay if you like an oaky finish. (3571 views) | | Tasted by WineCenturyAZ on 6/24/2013 & rated 87 points: Wheat straw color, nose a bit neutral, notes of tropical fruits, honey and vanilla. Nice, not fussy, good come home summer white. (2511 views) | | Tasted by Sfbcshelt on 5/7/2013 & rated 91 points: Very nice and buttery. Better than I had expected (2528 views) | | Tasted by wahusker on 2/27/2013 & rated 87 points: Nice chardonnay with flavorful oak and fruit. Not overpowering yet not so smooth we finished the bottle in one night. Good wine for the price, more to come for this summer :) (2322 views) | | Tasted by wineandrun on 2/6/2013 & rated 80 points: Tropical fruits and vanilla on the nose; short oaky, buttery finish; rich, lacked fruit and acidity. Just not my thing. (1985 views) | | Tasted by GregGH on 1/29/2013 & rated 88 points: at Costco price a very good QPR - will buy again (1944 views) | | Tasted by slubgob on 12/2/2012: 75 Nose is a bit of Lemmon and vanilla. Tate of more citrus pretty dry. oak is definitely there but not overdone (but since I'm not a huge fan of oak in chard I'm not wild about it) short buttery finish. (2006 views) | | Tasted by Tim221 on 10/15/2012 & rated 88 points: This wine has very little MLF, but a lot of oak, so it makes a superb Chardonnay! Not a super-butter Chardonnay, but rather one with a nice feeling of acid plus nice oak, so goes really well with jerk pork or other strong flavors. Very nice! (5303 views) | | Tasted by brigcampbell on 10/14/2012: This falls into the buttery popcorn category, but isn't unbearable. Pear and tree fruit wrapped in a butter coating. Medium plus weight and slightly thick. (1899 views) | | Tasted by James Eaton on 10/8/2012 & rated 86 points: Enjoyable wine (4979 views) | | Tasted by behm0027 on 9/15/2012 & rated 84 points: Not well balanced...too much oak. Like eating wood chips. (4951 views) | | Tasted by Tracywesterman on 8/21/2012 & rated 76 points: Not buttery enough. More citrus and sharp with hints of floral. | Toasted Head Producer web siteChardonnay The Chardonnay GrapeUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson CaliforniaNapa Valley.http://www.stagecoachvineyard.com/vineyards/our_vineyards.php Santa Ynez.http://www.everyvine.com/org/Camp_Four/vineyard/Camp_Four/ |
