Community Tasting Notes (average 86.1 pts. and median of 86 pts. in 47 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Wicked Panda on 10/23/2013 & rated 88 points: Notes of apple and honey. Not a lot of citrus or grass. Went well with a chorizo and garlic pasta (2633 views)
Tasted by bob_jones on 6/21/2013 & rated 83 points: I feel this wine is reaching the end of its window at this point. Taste and aroma are flatter than earlier bottle; as others note the aroma was distinctly different from the palate but I feel both are now muted. Still not bad, easy to drink and mildly sweet with a touch of citrus but I plan on finishing off the last in short order. (2857 views)
Tasted by manny651 on 6/17/2013 & rated 88 points: Quite tasty with snapper dinner. I get the funky nose, but the palate is smooth, citrusy with a slightly tart finish. (2930 views)
Tasted by foobarski on 6/7/2013 & rated 89 points: Interesting funky note on the nose ... not sure if I'd call it "cat pee" exactly, but in that vein. Not tasting quite as sweet anymore, still nicely crisp, good both with food and alone. (2636 views)
Tasted by vaaccess on 5/25/2013 & rated 87 points: Pretty sweet, if that's your thing. But. It's incredibly smooth, a little tartness, floral, etc. A good representation of what it is. (2859 views)
Tasted by grdnbrrtt on 12/29/2012 & rated 80 points: A bit too sweet for my taste, but not hopelessly so. Some tart notes too. A sipper or perhaps sea food. (1806 views)
Tasted by North316 on 11/25/2012 & rated 86 points: No formal notes. Nice easy drinker, nothing standing out. (1912 views)
Tasted by nfurlong on 11/25/2012 flawed bottle: Rim of neck shattered when I tried to open with an Ah-So. First time this has ever happened. Wonder if Woot is using low-grade glass. (1770 views)
Tasted by Buck naked on 11/9/2012 & rated 87 points: Last bottle, drank at room temp. Had more of a grassy smell. Tastes of grapefruit on the front, with a finish of pear. A nice enough white, but still prefer F- bomb. (1518 views)
Tasted by manny651 on 11/7/2012 & rated 84 points: Not bad, but enjoyed the label more than the wine (1703 views)
Tasted by TottenCellars on 11/1/2012: This was an off bottle, had a weird viscosity to it. Maybe bottom of the barrel. (1397 views)
Tasted by ChipGreen on 8/22/2012 & rated 86 points: Nose of apples, grapefruit, pears and honeysuckle. Crisp, steely entry with green apples, pears, guava and petrol on the palate. Heavy, slightly viscous mouthfeel and tart citrus on the finish with some lingering petrol. (1902 views)
Tasted by Lfmz777 on 8/15/2012 & rated 89 points: Fresh, smooth, nice for summer. It is Not sweet, really nice balance of fruit. (1736 views)
Tasted by nfurlong on 8/14/2012 & rated 88 points: Excellent summer-drinking chilled wine! Generous amount of ripe green fruit with good acid balance. Not overly sweet. A delight to the mouth! (1769 views)
Tasted by nyerinla on 8/10/2012 & rated 89 points: Barely chilled and popped and poured. floral and peach scent. Very light sweetness with hint of honey and ripe peach flavor. Good acid balance. (1818 views)
Tasted by foobarski on 8/4/2012 & rated 89 points: Nice sweetness, but also a solid mineral-y backbone. Wonderful summer sipper. Would probably pair well with pesto ... definitely worked with a chicken dish that had a lot of garlic in it. (1718 views)
Tasted by sdilullo on 7/28/2012 & rated 87 points: Very pale, perhaps a hint of grass on the first whiff with some honey-like sweetness. Sweet (not overly so) at first but then it quickly moves onto a great tangy/tart finish on the back of your tongue. This seems like a perfect summer sipper. (1999 views)
Tasted by Buck naked on 7/20/2012 & rated 87 points: Wow, strong smell of pineapple right off the bat. First sip is of green apple, but slightly sweet instead of tart. Very refreshing on a hot summer night. Would pair well with some spicy sushi. (1888 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
