A heavy splash into the decanter on opening plus a few minutes to sit, and it was bright cherry and cassis, with earth and herbs to complement it. Went pretty well with a sous vide rib roast. Decanted on day one, enjoyed two glasses, and returned the remainder to the bottle and vacuumed sealed. Dark and medium bodied displaying big black fruit: dark blackberry, cherry, and plum underscored with a still prevalent tannic backbone. Much more subdued, aromatic, and approachable on day two with the tannins taking a back seat to the black and red fruit. Solid, but needs additional time or a long decant. After letting it open up, tartness mellowed (still there) but red fruits on the palate and a bit of green pepper. Overall, in a blind tasting, I would have called this a Pinot noir, not a cab.
