Surprisingly nice prosecco. Very easy drinking. All guests we had liked it. This was one of our favorite sparklings during hot summer evenings. (1498 views) | | Tasted by avp on 3/6/2013: Fresh appley nose with some pear, lime and a nice bisquity touch. Dry, light and refreshing with smooth foam going through the palate. Fruity with pear dominating. Straightforward but rather pleasent. (1817 views) | | Tasted by lvjohn on 2/3/2013 & rated 88 points: Very tasty with good effervescence and persistence of flavor and bubbles. Slightly sweet without much acid. Drinking very nicely now. Glera is a white variety of grape of Slovenian origin, which was brought to village Prosecco (Slovene, Prosek) from Slovenian Kras. Glera was, until 2009, mostly referred to as Prosecco (Slovene, Prosekar).
Glera is a rather neutral grape variety which is mainly cultivated for use in sparkling Italian wine styles, frizzante or spumante, from the various Prosecco DOCG and DOC areas, although still wines also exist.
It is grown mainly in the Veneto region of Italy, traditionally in an area near Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, in the hills north of Treviso.Italy Italian Wines (ItalianMade.com, The Italian Trade Commission) | Italian Wine Guide on the WineDoctor |
