Tasted by Scoot on 6/20/2012 & rated 74 points: Wasn't appealing. Over the hill. (4540 views)
Tasted by winewoods on 2/6/2010 & rated 87 points: This is a crowd pleaser. A fitting contrast to their Cab, which needs a surprising amount of time; whereas, this is likely immediately enjoyable, right out of the gate. Though in all fairness, this is now 4 years after release. We had a corked bottle just last night but this one's solid with no flaws and so, just a real obvious go-to that won't likely offend anyone. I can honestly say I've never had this wine...or even seen it. Can only imagine it's somewhere in the sub $15 range and at that, a no-brainer QPR. (5464 views)

I can honestly say I've never had this wine...or even seen it, for that matter and can only guess that it's somewhere in the sub $15 range and at that, a no-brainer QPR. (5358 views)
Tasted by TannicBeast on 6/7/2009 & rated 88 points: good but very young and hot (5421 views)
Tasted by BigPoppaMD on 3/2/2009 & rated 91 points: Great Merlot! Drinking well right now. Sounds like it has softened up. I think nietzschephilosopher was right! (5639 views)
 Tasted by e*cellar on 8/24/2008 & rated 84 points: A decent merlot. (2211 views)
Tasted by nietzschephilosopher on 7/13/2007 & rated 90 points: I'm still convinced that this one could really take off with some years in the cellar. Berries dusted with cocca and espresso on the nose. In the mouth there are both firm tannins and nice acidity. The finish is only short to medium long and is the weakest point of the wine. (2394 views)
Tasted by nietzschephilosopher on 1/27/2007 & rated 92 points: dark fruit and a little coffee and dark chocolate on the nose. Well balanced fruit, acidity, tannins and oak. This is good (2485 views)
Tasted by bruceb on 11/1/2006 & rated 85 points: The heavy tannins in this wine tended to mask much of what would otherwise have been a very good, full-bodied red. Could have used more time in the bottle. (2917 views)

Merlot

Merlot is a dark blue–colored wine grape variety, that is used as both a blending grape and for varietal wines. The name Merlot is thought to be a diminutive of merle, the French name for the blackbird, probably a reference to the color of the grape. Its softness and "fleshiness", combined with its earlier ripening, makes Merlot a popular grape for blending with the sterner, later-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, which tends to be higher in tannin.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
