Medium to full bodied with resolved tannins and layers of flavors. Drank with a friend for his birthday. We both enjoyed it. (3679 views) | | Tasted by ckilpatrick on 5/20/2012 & rated 91 points: Not as good as the first bottle we had a few years ago - starting to decline. (3690 views) | | Tasted by TAE on 7/30/2010 & rated 92 points: Beautiful deep dark colour. The wine pretty much explodes in your face at first smell. The nose opens beautifully with soft vanila, ripe dark berries, including blackcurrent, iron (rust), a touch of smoke. The nose is stunning, at least to me. The palate has a sweet touch to it, which is substituted with an edgy acidity that might be too much tom some people, but not to me. I wish I had more bottles left (and in the glass as I'm drinking as I'm writing this). Drink now or hold a few years more, but not too long. Cheers guys & gals. (2832 views) | | Tasted by Sundbyberg on 5/25/2008: Had this one way too early. Have a feeling it's a great wine, if you wait. No score at this point. Drink by 2010-2013, is my guess. Bougth 5 bottles of the 2006. (1205 views) | | Tasted by therussian on 3/2/2008 & rated 88 points: I bought this on a whim at auction for $14 and what a bargain that turned out to be. The Lohsa is mostly cab with about 10% petit verdot, and 10% alicante. Forget the vintage charts, the 2002 Lohsa is a beautiful dark color with aromas of ripe fruit framed nicely by oak and a touch of earth. The great thing about the critics laying down these blanket statements as to whether or not a vintage was any good is that there are still great wines made but the price is usually a third less. Good for us consumers. I'm looking forward to someone else trying this wine and seeing how much they paid for it. Can you beat $14? (3320 views) | | Tasted by socidelvino on 2/15/2008: Opened for Vaughan farewell party. Drinking even better now - this cab blend is one of my favorites. (2520 views) | | Tasted by socidelvino on 4/16/2006: Great fruit and nice tuscan touch to cabernet. 16 months in barrique then bottled. (2512 views) |
| Lohsa Producer websiteRed Bordeaux BlendRed Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.
Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.Italy Italian Wines (ItalianMade.com, The Italian Trade Commission) | Italian Wine Guide on the WineDoctorTuscany Tuscany (ItalianMade.com) | TuscanytMaremma On weinlagen-infoMaremma Toscana On weinlagen-info |
