Tasted by rmcnees on 4/6/2020 & rated 89 points: Ruby colored, medium bodied, concentrated bright berry and cherry fruits are accented by notes of smoke, creosote, cassis, and spices with firm tangy acidity and a moderate lingering tannin finish.

Tasted by iamandyc on 8/19/2015 & rated 82 points: Might have been spoiled. Very herbal. Color was good but the nose and palate were not.Poured down the sink! (2125 views)
Tasted by iamandyc on 12/25/2014 & rated 90 points: Decanted and drank over two days. Red fruited with cranberry and pomegranate notes. Very acidic, especially on the long finish. A really good food wine with fatty foods and smoked cheese. Can't decide if past its peak or just the style of winemaking. (2317 views)
Tasted by Raja on 2/14/2014 & rated 85 points: Must be a bad bottle. This was totally off. A valentine's day flop. (2680 views)
Tasted by RussK on 3/24/2013 & rated 92 points: Russk M&T's cellar reduction party. One of my favorites. Surprisingly soft smooth earthy and old world. 92 (3137 views)
Tasted by Raja on 12/23/2012 & rated 92 points: Beautiful! (2811 views)
Tasted by noahbw on 9/29/2012 & rated 91 points: Gave several hours in decanter. Deep amber red in the glass. Nose of molasses, leather, anise, dark spice, graphite and richly cooked down berries. Palate of massive juicy raspberry, blackberry and wood. Sturdy and strong tannin, and a long running finish of fruits and spice. An exquisite bottle. PJG: 91 (2278 views)
Tasted by helicopterbob on 3/17/2012 & rated 91 points: Wonderful (2432 views)
Tasted by King Cab on 11/14/2011 & rated 90 points: Black with nose of infused black cherry and violets. This comes in dense and firmly packed with tons of black fruits first and foremost being black currants. After about 15 minutes this was soft but not flabby with tannins nearly fully resolved. Balance was deft. Light notes of graphite, cola, leather and cedar were in the mix as well. Apart from being just a wee-bit one dimensional, this really showed well tonight. It went long and remained true to itself. An admirable showing indeed. (3015 views)
Tasted by ronlite on 8/30/2011 & rated 90 points: Very good (2145 views)
Tasted by ggormezano on 7/18/2011 & rated 92 points: Second of my two bottles and significantly better and more evolved than the first bottle I had several years ago. Good fruit, decent length and well balanced. (2112 views)
Tasted by rmcnees on 5/31/2011 & rated 88 points: Medium bodied - dark berry fruits, blackberry, black raspberry and currant with hints of mocha and cassis with a subdued spicy, moderate tannin finish.

Tasted by Mark H. LeQuire on 2/17/2011 & rated 93 points: Evolving nicely. One more, last, bottle to go. Will enter more formal tasting note at that time. Perfectly mature and ready to drink. Still has plenty of bottle time left. (2489 views)
Tasted by Ekoostik on 11/2/2008 & rated 88 points: This was my 2nd go at this wine and it performed much better this time. 1st time I thought it was disjointed and way too oaky. I found this bottle to be much more in balance in all respects. Still not worth the admission cost direct. (2458 views)
Tasted by knelsfk on 4/22/2008: Didn't spend a lot of time thinking about the wine; served with a hurried pasta dinner; wine didn't show very well; nothing impressive; restrained fruit; not much finish; problaby didn't give it a fair chance; 84-86 range (2573 views)
Tasted by Screameagle on 4/16/2006 & rated 88 points: Very austere with little fruit. Hope it will improve with age but may not. (3453 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
