Tasted by Halfeel on 6/18/2023 & rated 92 points: Drinking quite well now and does not appear to be close to the end of its window. (109 views)
Tasted by Tlanphier on 12/5/2015: Good but not great. Nice casual wine. (2942 views)
Tasted by Slaz on 10/3/2015 & rated 87 points: Improved with air, but even after several hours of decanting it remained hollow on mid-palate, with admittedly short finish. Some nice dusty dirt with restrained fruit on the palate. Tannins are strong but well integrated. (2982 views)
Tasted by Slaz on 9/25/2015 & rated 89 points: Tasted greenish, thin, and with short finish upon opening. Took close to two hours of decanting to really open revealing much more complexity and a longer finish. Decant for at least 2+ hours next time. (2967 views)
Tasted by ChipGreen on 9/21/2015: Fairly complex with layers of mocha, cherry, cassis and earth. Well integrated oak, good overall structure. (3031 views)
Tasted by adamlipp on 4/19/2015 & rated 90 points: Incredibly smooth and rich, great oak, beautiful nose as well. (3501 views)
Tasted by F_&_M on 12/21/2014 & rated 88 points: Great style. Very nice meaty feel. Rich flavors. Could use a bit more tannins for backbone. (1404 views)
Tasted by JonnyVegasWinery on 12/19/2014 & rated 90 points: Great complexity & oak aging! (1093 views)
Tasted by Halfeel on 12/18/2014 & rated 89 points: Very good now after a few hours in the decanter. Expect this wine to improve with a few years in the cellar. Will wait 2-3 years before opening additional bottles. (1121 views)
Tasted by ddmhunter on 3/18/2014 & rated 88 points: Dark with some fruit to the nose. Mild hints of chocolate and herbs. Up front with little depth. Medium tannins on the finish. (2469 views)

The 2009 vintage in Napa Valley enjoyed near ideal growing conditions for much of the season, until some early season storms hit the valley in mid-October. For the most part the vines didn’t experience much in the way of stress, with no real heat spikes or radical temperature swings to speak of. Grapes enjoyed extended hang-time without becoming overripe developing balanced sugars and acidity levels. Wines from this vintage should be characterized by forward, bright fruit with pure varietal character.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
