Community Tasting Notes (average 88 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 7 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 4/6/2014 & rated 87 points: Light orange color; aromatic, dried orange, lemon oil nose; oily textured, lemon oil, very tart orange palate; medium-plus finish (50% Syrah, 50% Tempranillo) (989 views)
Tasted by csomers12 on 7/31/2013 & rated 90 points: Refreshing! Like drinking pink air. Almost no nose and a very minerally palate. A totally atypical wine from the Sierra Foothills. (2058 views)
Tasted by Chaz Bham on 7/12/2013 & rated 90 points: So nice on a hot summer evening. All the typical elements, but an added layer of chromatic complexity that sets it apart from many other offerings. Excellent integration of light, vibrant elements, projecting an airy freshness. Consumed alongside the Bedrock Ode to Lulu, and certainly a notch above. Between the 4 of us at dinner, it seemed like these bottles lasted all of 5 minutes - I turned around and they were empty. (2120 views)
Tasted by Wicker Parker on 6/28/2013: Dry, subtle, hints of rhubarb and black pepper, tasty. (2668 views)
Tasted by swillpower on 5/24/2013: Nose is austere, faint rhubarb/strawberries, ML character. Thin, but balanced and crisp. An OK quaffer, but not a lot going on. Will try again day 2. (2050 views)
Tasted by stevetimko on 5/11/2013: Dry and mild red fruit flavors not not that interesting. Too many roses with more depth for less money. (1677 views)
Tasted by Martin Redmond on 3/23/2013 & rated 85 points: 2013 Rhone Rangers - The Best of The Rhone Rosés: Salmon pink color with faint red fruit aromas. On the palate, it's light-bodied, and dry and tart with medium (-) acidity. It shows tart cherry. Short finish. Blend of 50% Syrah/50% Tempranillo - $25 (1420 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
