Tasted by 1961Vintage on 4/16/2020 & rated 92 points: Drinking very well with additional enjoyment ahead. (623 views)
Tasted by PolarBear22 on 4/11/2020 & rated 90 points: Similar to last month. (586 views)
Tasted by PolarBear22 on 3/16/2020 & rated 90 points: Dark color. Nicely balanced fruit and acidity. Not a jimmy Zin. Went great with some leftover steak. Drinking well, but I plan to drink other bottles this year. (598 views)
Tasted by 1961Vintage on 2/18/2020: Delicious juice! Maturing nicely with plenty of life ahead. Great sub $20 buy (691 views)
Tasted by wmccone54 on 5/29/2017 & rated 91 points: Last of four bottles purchased back in 2014. My note from May 2015 nailed it from my perspective for all four bottles. A bit restrained, but balanced fruit and acid, tennis very low. Great food wine, especially for smoked meats. I wouldn't expect to see any further evolution based on what I've experienced with this wine. (1471 views)
Tasted by tomlee on 3/28/2017 & rated 89 points: Crimson in color. 14.5% ABV. Black and red fruits, pepper and toasty oak on the nose. Medium body with light to medium acidity. Restrained, Claret style Zinfandel. Raspberry, blackberry, white pepper and cocoa powder on the palate. The finish is long and spicy. Pretty good but I expect more from the Belloni Vineyard. Most likely a reflection of the sub par 2011 vintage. Drink over the next few years. (1511 views)
Tasted by PolarBear22 on 12/17/2016 & rated 90 points: Nice big Zinfandel. Dark fruits on the nose and palate. Nice balance with a full mouthfeel. (1460 views)
Tasted by marcellevi on 5/10/2016 & rated 91 points: Big and bold, fruit-dominated nose and juicy raspberry and blueberry body. Moderately high alcohol (14.5) but it feels restrained to allow its refined balance to shine. (1899 views)
Tasted by wtianseter on 3/12/2016 & rated 91 points: Big fruit, nice briary spice and long medium tannic finish. Full mouth and nice balance (1872 views)
Tasted by Neecies on 3/6/2016 & rated 92 points: Has added weight since our last bottle. Magnificent flavor and structure, best glass was the last. Hurray for cool vintages! Will cellar well thru 2020. (1107 views)
Tasted by ecola on 3/5/2016: Good red fruit with a bit of raisin starting to set in. Wishing I drank this two years ago. Needs a bit of air, drink now. (1034 views)
Tasted by Neecies on 1/4/2016: I continue to love this vintage. Spicy yet restrained, great balance and aromatics. Not as big as usual but to more nuanced, and that's precisely what I love about it. (1088 views)
Tasted by Baron Slick on 9/2/2015 & rated 91 points: It's so easy to like Joel Peterson's single-vineyard Zinfandels. Loose-knit and compelling aromas of black and blue fruit, chocolate, and sandalwood. Bright, crisp, and tasty, with just the right amount of briary depth, complexity, and structure. This is Zin done right. (1101 views)
Tasted by wmccone54 on 8/30/2015 & rated 91 points: Perfect accompaniment to smoked beef short ribs, really great. Notes consistent with my May 2015 experience. (1029 views)
Tasted by wtianseter on 7/9/2015 & rated 90 points: Big prickly fruit and heavy full mouth. Blueberry and blackberry; well integrated wine with a fruity yet dry and sharp briary tannin finish. From the hype I had seen on Belloni vinyard, I had hoped for a bit more in the wine -- let's wait for bottle #2 in a while (1071 views)
Tasted by wmccone54 on 5/28/2015 & rated 91 points: PnP. Enjoyed with smoked beef ribs. Medium bodied, dark ruby color. Soft, fruity, and nicely balanced. Fruits tend toward spicy dark raspberry, cherry compote and toasty vanilla with some green earthiness, smokiness, and peppermint at mid-palate. Finish is long and peppery. Perfect with smoked meat or barbecue. (1212 views)
Tasted by Laszkiewicz on 12/24/2014 & rated 89 points: Good everyday wine for the $$$$ (1605 views)
Tasted by Neecies on 12/17/2014 & rated 90 points: Haven't had a Ravenswood SV zin since the 90's/ownership change and was hesitant to expect much from a 2011, but this bottle was a happy reunion. Restrained but spicy plum and raspberry fruit, good acid and silky tannins; showing some complex development from time in bottle, medium bodied, very 'claret' in style. Delightful. (1440 views)
Tasted by Thomas B on 8/11/2014 & rated 89 points: This second bottle seemed a bit more fruit forward than the previous. Very enjoyable with typical zin characteristics - a little pepper, some earthy spice and a good dose of dark fruit (plums and raspberries). (1696 views)
Tasted by WineCPA on 8/6/2014 & rated 91 points: Nicely balanced. Medium bodied, medium acidity and not very tannic. Red fruit that shows just a hint of jam without being sweet. Clean finish. Drinks well alone or with food. Drink now-2017 (1600 views)
Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 12/19/2013 & rated 91 points: Blind Tasting - California Reds: Ruby color. Creamy fruit on the nose, red raspberries, black cherries, violets and roses. I like the tangy acid on the palate and the silky tannins. Full of flavor, with plums and ripe raspberries and roses, all fresh and seamless, with earth and smoke and rose accents. Dare I say elegant? A lot of complexity, but it seems ready to drink now. 75% Zinfandel, 25% “mixed blacks” 19 months in 25% new French oak. (2377 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
