Tasted by tjtrot on 1/15/2024 & rated 89 points: refreshing clean and crisp and medium bodied with some oomph (yeasty) on the palate; clean long finish (373 views)
Tasted by Sperls on 1/5/2024 & rated 92 points: A very pleasant surprise that shows what American sparkling wine can be, this bottle was purchased in 2018 for $15, and the label code shows it was disgorged in 2017. I had sort of forgotten about it as had planned to drink it at some point over some summer but that didn’t happen. So, we brought it when the opportunity presented to dine at a great BYOB place in Montclair NJ. Ie, if it was dead/sucked, then you just move on. However, to our surprise, this was drinking better than many NV champagnes I’ve had. It was light on its feet while also have decent weight to stand up to food. The acidity was perfect and the fruit was alive with some lemon and brioche, and the finish was quite long. The wine went great with everything from chicken liver mousse to seared Spanish octopus to fried chicken. Wish now I hadn’t consumed my other 5 bottles years ago… (332 views)
Tasted by kostaslonis on 6/9/2023: Sample tasting at work (Oinoscent): Citrus, grapefruit, yeast, high intensity, full on the nose, palate with citrus, full body, highly carbonated offering a nice creamy texture, medium finish. Very nice surprise (737 views)
Tasted by cobbpa on 2/12/2023 & rated 87 points: Green apple & pear, just a bit of leesy-toast, really refreshing (801 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 1/25/2023: Roughly 60 / 40 chard and pinot I am being told. And then full malo. And owned by Roederer. With some back vintage reserve vintage backbone. Cinnamon toast crunch on the nose. (996 views)
Tasted by BougieWino on 12/11/2022 & rated 86 points: Green apple nose; yeast bright, more apple flavors. Light bodied, easy to drink. (628 views)
Tasted by davesmith1957 on 8/27/2022 & rated 92 points: Fine bubbles, just the right dryness for a brut. Hint of fruit (922 views)
Tasted by Muledog71 on 4/17/2022 & rated 89 points: very interesting California offering. Oxidized style reminiscent of champagne. A must try at 25$ (1071 views)
Tasted by jeginmt on 1/13/2022 & rated 90 points: A very nice drinkable bubbly. Apple and toasted yeast flavors, good acidity. Can’t go wrong with this bargain wine. (170 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 12/15/2021: 60/40 Chard/Pinot. Tasty as it goes. And hey, at $16 or so it works it out. (1296 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 5/18/2021: Quitely owned by Roderer with the same winemaking team. With a bit of funky stink of the cork pull. (1420 views)
Tasted by Eatmypixels on 9/20/2018 & rated 88 points: Good value. Heavy side. Buy again (2346 views)
Tasted by gfwetzel on 1/28/2018 & rated 88 points: Yeast and toast aromas. Citrus and mineral taste. Light yellow color. Medium acidity. Nice as an aperitif and with scallops. Good value. (2566 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 1/18/2018: Bought 600 acres in 1982? Rich fruit, full malo and that kinda shows. 60% Pinot and 40% Chardonnay. (2577 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 7/16/2017 & rated 89 points: Cabs and Merlot or Blend from Anywhere (Heirloom, St.Paul, MN): Light gold color. Drank 1 glass over 20 minutes. I hadn't had this in several years, and i thought this was one of the better examples I've had. This was very nicely yeasty, autolytic, lime, citrus. Good QPR. (3243 views)
Tasted by rustyRudy on 12/4/2016 & rated 89 points: Nice , inexpensive , by the glass at a restaurant, nice way to start the meal, okay bubbles, ripe apple, lemon, and a clean finish. Not bad for the price. (3176 views)
Tasted by domco on 12/13/2015: Nothing special but for $13 I won't complain too much drinking it. (3276 views)
Tasted by cuffthis on 1/23/2015 flawed bottle: Local steak house had this by the glass. They opened a new bottle for me and it was corked. Last bottle they had behind bar. (3759 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 12/3/2014 & rated 87 points: Pretty similar to what I remember in past years, seems a little flat overall, indistinct citrus palate, light. Simple. Certainly drinks beyond its 12.99 price point, although I'd pop a couple bucks for the Roederer or Gloria Ferrer. Some really loved this. I will say i have liked it more in other years. (4089 views)
Tasted by lquam on 11/10/2014 & rated 85 points: Medium straw color. Smallish bubbles and good acid. Redolent baked apple flavors. Earlier in the week had a Roederer L'Ermitage from Anderson Valley as well and they seem to be taking both houses in that direction. Could have stood some citrus, mineral, and yeast flavors. Actually hope this is not a direction that Roederer is heading in California. It's pleasant, but lacking in complexity. (3652 views)
Tasted by mydi on 7/26/2014 & rated 80 points: Last bottle from from Daughter's wedding 5years ago. Good but too dry for me. (3735 views)
Tasted by JayAAllen on 7/19/2014 & rated 83 points: Not much going on here. Very yeasty, not much else. (2773 views)
Tasted by Karsko on 1/1/2014 & rated 87 points: Nice acidity. Lots of bubbles for a nice presentation. Paired well with a wide variety of appetizers. Medium finish. Great bargain when it is on sale. (2262 views)
Tasted by WineCenturyAZ on 12/31/2013 & rated 87 points: Medium oat straw color in the glass, nice acidity, flinty notes with a hint of chalk, nice round mouthfeel with citrus and apple (2722 views)
Tasted by Armando B on 12/6/2013 & rated 86 points: Good acid. Light body with apple and citrus notes. Better with food. Nice QPR. (2536 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

North Coast

The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties. (see The Wine Institute for more information)
