| Community Tasting Notes (average 88.1 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 15 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Francois Le Mouel on 3/20/2018 & rated 89 points: A nice Border Vines from a cool (even cold!) vintage. Nice complexity, but lacking some depth and intensity. This is definitely at its peak, so drink now or within the next 12-18 months. (1144 views) | | Tasted by AndrewsTwo on 1/26/2017 & rated 87 points: This wine is holding up nice. Had with a steak and the acidity was perfect, while also providing some nice fruity notes like a typical BC blend. Great wine to enjoy with a nice piece of meat, just because it is a Tuesday. (904 views) | | Tasted by BordFan on 5/15/2016 & rated 90 points: Still holding flavors very well, this wine has a few years left in it. Tannins have softened and fruit is still very evident. (1040 views) | | Tasted by Francois Le Mouel on 6/20/2015 & rated 90 points: Absolutely beautiful right now! Typical Southern Okanagan nose, floral and herbal (sage). Excellent acidity. A bit of warmth in the mouth, but not a big issue. (1304 views) | | Tasted by Gehurley on 3/4/2014 & rated 87 points: Nice standard Bordeaux blend. Good value for BC. (1542 views) | | Tasted by df1962 on 12/15/2013: No formal notes or score. Good with steak. Would buy again. (1076 views) |
| Moon Curser Producer Website Moon Curser Vineyards is a boutique, family-owned winery on the East Bench of Osoyoos, BC, a South Okanagan border town known for its hot summers, lakeside fun and vineyards. Moon Curser has been in operation since 2004, when Chris and Beata Tolley purchased an old orchard in need of replanting, and set about converting it into what is now the Moon Curser Home Vineyard block, winery and tasting room.
The Moon Curser name pays tribute to the gold smuggling history of Osoyoos. The Moon Curser wines, however, break from tradition – the winery’s focus has always been on making premium wines from old-world grape varieties not previously planted in the Okanagan such as Tannat, Dolcetto and Touriga Nacional. These varieties have not historically been a part of the South Okanagan viticulture, but thrive in the distinctive terroir of the Osoyoos East Bench and continue to deliver unique, world class interpretations of these wines.
Moon Curser was recognized as #1 Best Performing Small Winery at the 2019 WineAlign National Wine Awards of Canada.Red Bordeaux BlendRed Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.
Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.Canadahttps://www.winegrowerscanada.ca/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_wineBritish Columbia Wines of British Columbia (British Columbia Wine Institute)Okanagan Valley Okanagan Valley (British Columbia Wine Institute)Okanagan Valley VQA Okanagan Valley (British Columbia Wine Institute)
