Community Tasting Notes (average 92.2 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 5 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Ecb1456 on 5/14/2017 & rated 92 points: 1 hr decant. With steak (heavy garlic because...well that is how I roll), green beans corn and quinoa. Leather, gravel, black cherries and currant to nose. Vanilla and cherries up front with a rather dry leather finish. Hints of smokiness throughout but that could just have been coming from the grill. Seems hot, but it's not overall. Mmm. (856 views)
Tasted by Ecb1456 on 8/13/2015 & rated 92 points: Still has time left. Big an bold still with very well rounded tannins. Quite a bit of fruit left. Stands up nicely to food. More notes later. (916 views)
Tasted by mflesh on 7/3/2015 & rated 91 points: Thick wine. Drinking well. Hard to believe that this one is supposedly done by 2017.....I actually am one of the ones that believes that will be the case. This one got a 91 tonight. I think it was a little more expressive than the last one I had a couple of months ago. This one kind of had a raisin and plum heat on the end of it. Not really that great for the wine and I think it's showing some signs of falling off the edge. I expect this one to fall quickly, so if you have it, I don't know if I'd particularly wait for 2017 to come unless you want a lot of expensive salad dressing. (1025 views)
Tasted by mflesh on 5/3/2015 & rated 89 points: So, the 97 point rating by ONE NOTE isn't too realistic for this wine. Wine was uncorked to a rather nice blackberry bramble nose, but that's probably where this one peaked. Poured a very dark red/violet into the glass with hints of dark chocolate, vanilla, blackberry bramble. The wine had quite a bit of fine grit sediment therefore I'm actually quite unsure if even decanting this one would have improved its profile quite honestly. Fruit was definitely more expressive than the 07 Breckenridge Cab SAUV, but this CF from Atlas Peak did seem to have that Franc funk on the mid-palate and finish. The chalky sediment gave appearance that this one was highly tannic, but it's really just quite a bit of grit. I think this one probably has another 2-3 years on it, but definitely close to being done. (1063 views)
Tasted by now_in_mi on 6/15/2014 & rated 97 points: Very smooth and refined fruit flavors, with a hint of oak on the back end. By far one of the best Cabernet Franc examples out there. (1128 views)

Varietal character (Appellation America) | Wines & Vines article

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
