| Community Tasting Notes (average 88.3 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 11 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by colowino on 4/24/2013 & rated 88 points: Deep purple color, vanilla on the nose, dark cherry with hint of prune on the palate, decent finish. Well cellared bottle and it was probably just past its peak, so drink up! Saftig im Antrunk, mundfüllend und gute Länge. Noch in gutem Zustand, wohl noch mind. 1-2 Jahre gut trinkbar. PGV gut-sehr gut
translation: excessive nose after herbs, eucalyptus, dark fruits and alcohol. Juicy in the Antrunk, mouth-filling and good length. Still in good state, probably still mind. 1-2 years well drinkable. Property PGV (11 €) very well (2395 views) | | Tasted by winemark on 6/29/2009: Certainly not over the hill! Approaching full maturity now, showing good integration and balance. Medium-full bodied and supple in the mouth with a medium-long finish. Nice wine. (3473 views) | | Tasted by vanpe003 on 5/2/2007 & rated 90 points: Unbelievable contrast to the bottle I had earlier. Opens up with a significant meaty / gamey aroma and palate. Over the course of an hour, the gaminess blows off, with cedar surrounding dense fruit and a hint of tobacco and menthol on the palate. Nice finish, nice balance. I can't explain how or why the two bottles could be so different. (3353 views) | | Tasted by gellie on 3/15/2007 & rated 86 points: over the hill (1965 views) | | Tasted by vanpe003 on 11/14/2006 & rated 82 points: On the palate, a bright effervescence, jammy Welch's grape juice (and some dreadful drink I had in college that doesn't come to mind). It may be a result of the wines this was up against tonight (Oregon pinot, old world cab blend), but this does not come across as a serious wine. Nor does it come across as a serious Aussie shiraz, having tasted a bottle of the 2003 Thorn-Clarke Shotfire last week. As I'm editing and rewriting this (trying to be polite), the wine seems to be improving in the glass. To be fair, I'll leave the rest (90%) of the bottle for tomorrow for a followup review.
Day 2 - did not improve. Serve to people who say "I don't like reds". (2066 views) | | Tasted by thelostverse on 9/3/2006 & rated 91 points: The last bottle was the best showing of this. Blackberries and rasberries with a lengthy finish.
