Tasted by 560 B&W on 1/22/2017 & rated 91 points: PnP. Pretty if powerful. Will likely continue to improve. 14.5% (2175 views)
Tasted by glou.sf on 10/21/2016 & rated 92 points: Cherry, red fruit, and leather notes on the nose. Good acidity with more red fruit and medium-high tannins on the palate. Great finish. (1948 views)
Tasted by peternelson on 9/10/2016 & rated 92 points: Rich and ripe on the palate with mixed berries, excellent structure but still quite soft and velvety; rich extracted feel on the palate, a bit warm, cooked fruits and a black volcanic ashy impression in the finish. Really nice, maybe 91-92. (2009 views)
Tasted by Tom_Somm on 7/9/2016 & rated 93 points: Tremendous. Poured immediately. Very food friendly and Pinot like. You can definitely detect the volcanic influenced terroir here, but ample fruit to balance. Smooth and delightful finish. If this wine is indicative of the region, hugely underrated. (2028 views)
Tasted by JulianSkeels on 4/27/2016 & rated 94 points: I really like this wine, which improved with air. Initially a raspberry jam nose - by far the biggest nose of all the Etna wines - this is also much darker, and with much more ripeness. It's also very structured with tanins, acid and minerality. With air there were signs of complex minerals, mocha and chocolate. Super decadent. More like a top Amarone than modern Barolo, but much more sweetness and here the alcohol is less prominent. I loved it - and snapped up a case immediately. Will be great with heavy game dishes. I think this will improve significantly, and will drink mine 2020-2030. 94+pts.

Note: the silica soil here prevented phylloxera from reaching these Etna vines. Due to the nature vigour, the use of low yielding vines (120yrs old) is crucial. This site has more lava fields and minerality - perhaps maximising the ripeness (2348 views)
Tasted by barolo300 on 2/18/2016 & rated 90 points: Very pale, pearlescent ruby. You smell the fresh, sweet red fruits but it has a little spice and a such a lot of vibrancy. On the palette the alcohol is very powerful, but with the right food - something spicy or something rich - the delicious fruit will work well. (947 views)
Tasted by ChristyLeighNY on 12/22/2015 & rated 92 points: great food wine. light medium body, plenty of fruit. not a characteristic etna rosso wine, not as earthy as I'd expect. More pinot like without the heavy cherries and perfumes. Had at Esca and then in Spartanburg for Christmas (848 views)
Tasted by Rollerball on 6/14/2015 & rated 92 points: Complex and long; ripe and sweaty. Leans on the daringly bitter. Pervasive and exciting. Structure and flavors to age.

Same day update: tannins begin to rage with a few hours' air. Hopefully a few years will resolve this with enough fruit left. (980 views)
Tasted by Pstroyer on 6/3/2015 & rated 91 points: Etna Rosso shows a gorgeous garnet hue with brilliant ruby highlights. Elegant and integrated aromas of dark fruit, ash, tobacco and spice are present in equal measure. Well-managed tannins. A few more years in the bottle will soften up the wine. (823 views)
