Tasted by SimonG on 4/27/2019 & rated 90 points: Mid ruby. Lovely peppery nose, good crunchy fruit. A delight as always. Plenty of interest. ***1/2 (1573 views)
Tasted by Prudess on 12/10/2016: - Ruby color and aromas of raisin and has flavours of raisin with a medium finish. (2840 views)
Tasted by chbeaumont on 9/14/2016 & rated 88 points: Rubied; brambly fruit, iron filings, cinders; soft & supple, dark fruits, easy going mid-palate; brooding, pushy finish. Drink up. (2813 views)
Tasted by Biggsy on 2/16/2016 & rated 89 points: Nice bramble fruit aromas with a little hint of almost sweet tobacco. Juicy black fruit and the same tobacco character on the entry. Earthy and rocky with good grip and excellent acidity. There is a little sour fruit on the finish, reminds me of cooked rhubarb. (3305 views)
Tasted by Ardross on 1/30/2016 & rated 85 points: Likeable but pretty simple . (3268 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 1/23/2016: Inexpensive Spanish Wines (SF Wine Trading Company): Light red. Herbs and anise on the nose. Light to medium weight with good flesh. Peppery black fruit, spice, blood orange, good acidity. Interesting and good. It brought to mind some Corsican reds. (2975 views)
Tasted by tjbsmf on 12/20/2015 & rated 90 points: Stinky nose -- barnyard, volcanic ash -- but dark fruit, mineral on palette. Medium-bodied, good balance. Great contrast, fun, different wine. (1682 views)
Tasted by SimonG on 12/10/2015 & rated 90 points: Work Wine Tasting - Spain (Home): As previously, vibrant, crunchy and fun. Spicy floral fruit. ***1/2 (2232 views)
Tasted by THECORKDORK on 9/18/2015 & rated 90 points: I can totally get down with this wine. Juicy, bretty, and carbonic. Funky, but not overly so. Perfect weeknight red. (1479 views)
Tasted by fedro on 9/11/2015 & rated 90 points: Holy smoke! :)
With cherries on top (1304 views)
Tasted by terry j on 4/14/2015 & rated 91 points: I think this wine is amazing. For such a young wine, the nose is very complex. There's barnyard and chestnut and brambly blackberry. The palate shows moderate tannins, a lot of acidity, and a robust, meaty flavor. This is a standout value. (1652 views)
Tasted by Gannet2013 on 2/25/2015 & rated 90 points: Great stuff and one of the most interesting reds I've had so far. Nose - mineral/earthy. Palate - quite deep black fruited notes but with an earthy twist on the finish. Medium bodied - think cru beaujo a bit more oomph. Must buy more @£11 from TWS (1596 views)
Tasted by moany rhoney on 11/27/2014: lovely complex nose, palette a let down, emm too young, not my thing. n ot sure (1827 views)
Tasted by Too much practice. on 11/19/2014: Enjoyed this. From memory there were some hard edges, but you get a good, earthy interesting wine at the price. (1724 views)
Tasted by SimonG on 11/10/2014 & rated 90 points: TWS Spain (Merchant Tailors' Hall): Lovely nose. Fresh and vibrant. Slightly smoky, spicy mineral. Fresh and crunchy and moreish. Really good VFM. ***1/2 (2030 views)
Tasted by tendring on 11/10/2014 & rated 86 points: The Wine Society - The Wines of Spain (Merchant Taylors' Hall): A volcanic nose.
Pleasant drinking but not wonderful. (2407 views)
Tasted by Biggsy on 10/23/2014 & rated 88 points: Bright red berry aromas. A lovely fresh, zippy style with a savoury, earthy note on the entry and spicy red fruits dominating the palate. Has a really light touch and the tannins are super-fine, holding everything together, excellent value. (1324 views)
Tasted by CamWheeler on 9/8/2014 & rated 88 points: Bibendum Trade Portfolio Tasting 2014: Pepper, florals, musky chalk and some sulphur. Has plenty of grip and the fruit is well into the background. Not as much interest as the white for me, but still has character. (1806 views)
Tasted by Motz on 6/2/2014 & rated 93 points: Bouquet of dusty volcanic soils, violets, cracked pepper, and sanguinity. Powerful, terroir-driven mouthfeel. Juicy attack, bracing mid palate of wonderful depth, rustic and backward. Seductive tannic grip at the back and a long, intricate finish. Somewhat reminiscent of Sagrantino di Montefalco. Crazy value! (1915 views)
Tasted by Shiaxonna on 5/23/2014 flawed bottle: Very barnyard nose, grippy and unpleasant palate..
Flaw! (1611 views)
Tasted by AlexGarner on 5/3/2014 & rated 88 points: Island Life Tasting (Prince Wine Store - Bank Street): A spicy nose with red berries , pepper and cured meats and a chewy texture with ripe tannins and a juicy fruit finish. (1974 views)
Tasted by Harley1199 on 2/7/2014: Served by the glass at Cuenllas bar.
What we really appreciate is that minerality, that sense of terroir that these wines give off all the time.
A new winery to watch...sooner than later.

Servida por copas en la barra del restaurante Cuenllas.
Lo que de verdad nos gusta es esa mineralidad, ese sentido del terruño que estos vinos exhalan todo el tiempo.
Una nueva bodega a seguir...más temprano que tarde. (2274 views)

Wine Map on weinlagen-info

Spain is the third largest wine producing nation in the world, occupying the majority of the Iberian Peninsula with vast diversity in climate, culture, and of course, wine. From inky, dark reds of the [Priorat] to dry, white Finos from Andalusia, Spain can easily boast of elaborating a wide variety of notable styles. Within Spain there are currently 62 demarcated wine regions, of which a handful have gained international recognition: [Rioja], Priorat and [Ribera del Duero]. Yet these regions are only a small sample of the high quality wines Spain produces. Regions such as Cava, Penedes, Somontano, Galicia, Rueda and Jerez are only a few of the numerous regions worthy of exploration throughout Spain. Spain can also lay claim to having the most land under vine in the world, growing up to, by some accounts, 600 indigenous varietals of which Tempranillo is their most well known. Other popular varietals include [Garnacha], Bobal and Monastrell for reds and for whites; the infamous [sic] Palomino Fino grape which is used in the production of sherry wine, Pedro Ximenez in Montilla Morilles, Albarino used in the creation of the bright, effervescent wines of Galicia, and Verdejo in Rueda. - Source: - Catavino.net

Spain is not in the forefront of winemaking for its dessert wines, other than for its sweet wines from Sherry country including the highly revered Olorosos (when sweetened). But apart from Sherry Spain has a range of styles of dessert wines, ranging from the those made from the Pedro Ximenez grape primarily in Jerez and Montilla-Moriles) to luscious, red dessert wines made in the Mediterranean from the Garnacha (Grenache) grape. Some good Moscatels are made in Mallorca, Alicante and Navarre. The northwest corner of Spain, Galicia, with its bitter Atlantic climate, is even making dessert wines, called “Tostadillos” in the village of Ribadivia (similar to France’s “Vin de Paille”). The Canary Islands have made interesting dessert wines for centuries (they are mentioned by Shakespeare, for example) and in recent years the quality of winemaking has been improved and the Canary Islands wines are being better marketed now. The winemaking styles for “Vinos Dulces” are also diverse, from “Late Harvest” (Vendimia Tardía) to “Fortified Wines” (Fermentación Parcial). Based on in-spain.info.
