| Tasted by drwinston on 5/28/2022 & rated 92 points: nose of ripe blackberries, dark fruits delicious spicy aromas long lasting on palate
a really elegant Blaufränkisch, goes very well e.g. with grilled beef I like that this is not one of the "Blockbuster" Blaufränkisch you get elsewhere (559 views) |
Tasted by drwinston on 1/20/2022 & rated 91 points: similar to 2009 but fresher (see my note 5/8/2020) after opening developed very well over 1 day (656 views)
Tasted by TXRhoneRanger on 6/17/2020 & rated 90 points: I thought this wine was so super dry and full of extract. Not by any means over the hill, but it needs air to be fully appreciated. Somewhere between right bank Bdx fruit and Malbec. Kind of a head scratching wine if you ask me. Had a good pairing with lamb kebab. Smokey red/black fruit. Food wine indeed. (1068 views)
Tasted by acyso on 11/10/2019 & rated 88 points: Kristin and Colin's 30th (Chicago, IL): A little less juicy and exuberant than I expected this to be, with a really nice dusty component. Black fruit and fairly tannic. (2220 views)
Tasted by G_H on 4/17/2018 & rated 87 points: Burgundy lookalike, light, aromatic. Good wine but not great (2088 views)
Tasted by ChateauDutremble on 4/5/2018 & rated 90 points: Beautiful aromas of sweet strawberries, old casks...hints of wild cherries and spices. Rather light weight with soft tannins...good structure with a short to medium finish. Needed air to open up and shine. Food wine. Ready now...unsure as to how it well continue aging. Although an interesting wine, not worth its price...CA$52. (1799 views)
Tasted by Christian von Dresky on 4/21/2017 & rated 86 points: I don´t really like this style and do not understand why this is so popular. Tannins and acidity won´t round up, even after some time in the glass. Blueberry is upfront but its not ripe. There is Blaufränkisch I prefer like Paul Lehrner. (2207 views)
Tasted by chbeaumont on 2/22/2017 & rated 89 points: Opaque; dense, packed with black fruits & morello cherries; thick, ripe tannins - a bit of bruiser. Needs more time. *** (1957 views)
Tasted by dissler on 5/8/2016 & rated 90 points: Dark colour. Nose of black fruit and smokey. Palate with good tannins while acidity dominates. Good structure. Bar bell: strong acidity which gives it a lighter tone, yet good tannins. could use a tad more body to bridge the two. (2211 views)
Tasted by yossarian.livez on 2/2/2016 & rated 88 points: Fairly reserved, savory herb, pebble, reticent red fruit. Modest finish. A-ok. (1886 views)
Tasted by rossi.wine on 6/10/2015 & rated 90 points: Really dark in colour with a purple rim. Spicy, expressive nose with cherries, cherry stones, red flowers. On the palate firm tannins, grippy texture with sweet fruit, good acidity and length. 89-91 (2278 views)
(1632 views)
Tasted by AudunG on 4/26/2015 & rated 90 points: Dark purple. Great aromas, with black and green fruits and eucalyptus. Extremely fruity, big and chevy. (1533 views)
Tasted by aagrawal on 10/21/2014 & rated 90 points: Wine & Spirits Top 100 Tasting (City Walk @ Metreon, San Francisco, CA): Spicy, dense, black fruit; flavorful palate, light-medium body, medium tannin. Very nice. 90 (2476 views)
Tasted by Finare Vinare on 2/20/2014 & rated 92 points: Fabulous stuff. Riper than most blaufränkish - aromas of italian sweet cherries more than blueberries - without being heavy, and certainly not over-oaked. It shows freshness, density, structure, spiciness, minerality and length. Drinks really well now, yet seems to have what it takes to develop over the next 10 yrs at least. Well worth its €27. Hats off! (2331 views)
Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 1/30/2014 & rated 91 points: Exemplary, classical Blaufränkisch profile, with its peppery acidity and fresh but ripe red cherries, floral topnote (violet), the old vines giving it a rare minerality and precision; silky palate, moderate tannins elegantly wrapped in flesh, pure and elegant, harmonious fresh acidity, very good length. At restaurant Do & Co in Vienna. (1585 views)
Tasted by Rupert on 11/18/2013 & rated 89 points: Fragrant, fresh and fruit, plush texture, Loire-like in its pepperiness. Very attractive, but can't see that it merits a £30 price tag. (1693 views)
