Tasted by Endodr on 4/27/2024 & rated 90 points: Good Cabernet in the David Phinney style, high Etoh and over extracted Similar notes to my last bottle.
Ready to drink now! (52 views)
Tasted by Endodr on 7/27/2022 & rated 90 points: I always enjoy Palermo. It’s very fruity and New World with aromas and flavors of cassis, blackberries, black cherry, and espresso. It still has plenty of beefy tannins and acidity. As others have reported, it’s initially very hot and has an alcoholic burn, but after decanting for a few hours, the wine really cools down, tannins smooth out, and integrates well. It’s definitely not over the hill. Drink now (with decant) or over next 4-5 years. (801 views)
Tasted by cpdwines on 7/26/2022 & rated 84 points: Over the hill and hot. (695 views)
Tasted by MrOctoberfest on 7/3/2022: Cabernet with the aging potential of a Vihno Verde. One of my wife’s bottles that was discovered at the bottom of a case of miscellaneous reds. Not a whole lot left here besides high alcohol heat. No tannin or structure and no tertiary development. This is a wine best drunk young. (788 views)
Tasted by redz on 1/18/2020 & rated 92 points: Delicious purple, full-bodied cab (2328 views)
Tasted by Bstutzer on 12/31/2018 & rated 90 points: Cellared at home for 4 years. Had with ribeye NYE dinner. Needed some air. Decanted for 4+ hours and it settled in nicely. Blackberry, plum, coffee notes. Silky smooth deep purple. Very solid. (2936 views)
Tasted by RandomCoil on 12/16/2018 & rated 88 points: Over-the-top, but I think that was the point of this one. (2629 views)
Tasted by wdlohr on 8/10/2018 & rated 91 points: Inky black, overripe and rich, black coffee grounds and pepper, age and air do balance (2759 views)
Tasted by Skibank114 on 5/21/2018 & rated 90 points: Still drinking well. Unfortunately, our last bottle. Continues to be better day 2 - so give it some air. Cheers! (3219 views)
Tasted by Ceo on 4/10/2018 & rated 92 points: Better with age! (2288 views)
Tasted by deekmon on 3/11/2018 & rated 91 points: Roughly 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot, <1% Malbec, Cabernet Franc. (1725 views)
Tasted by bjamesclark on 1/7/2018 & rated 90 points: Decanted
Decadent aromas of blackberry liquor, cassis, over-ripe plum and traces of fig with scents of cherry cordial, vanilla bean, espresso bean, velour, cigar box, pencil shavings and mocha with hints of black licorice.
The palate still shows massive richness Bold with deep, penetrating fruit. Right upon entry fig, plum, blackberry reduction and cassis envelop the palate followed by cherry cordial, sweet anise, mocha, vanilla and hints of leather. Still showing it's high alcohol content and sweet fine tannin through the finish (1872 views)
Tasted by thebonnydooner on 1/6/2018 & rated 91 points: Intense and sweet with just a tinge of dried herbs. Dark cherry and currant fruit. Excellent. (1487 views)
Tasted by IvanKrazy on 10/19/2017 & rated 90 points: Intense and in-your-face but that’s expected from Orin Swift, right? Ripe smoked blueberries, anis and vanilla. Heavy bodied and long long finish. (1991 views)
Tasted by wealand on 9/14/2017 & rated 91 points: Letting it settle until now is a huge difference from 3 years ago when I last opened a bottle. Nose is amazing and any bite is gone. Drink now. (2031 views)
Tasted by corkscrews on 8/12/2017 & rated 92 points: A nose of dark fruits and spices, dark purple in color. A full bodied red blend, with blackberry, black cherry, cassis, licorice and spices on long finish. A very good wine, cool label. www.winelx.com (2260 views)
Tasted by bluengng on 7/27/2017 & rated 86 points: Big tannin, lots of flavor, leather almost to the point of bring bitter. This is a nice wine with grilled meats. Full bodied, full flavor with balanced acidity. (2421 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
