Aroma: Date, dark berries, spice, hint of oak
Palate: Silky tannins, mouth coating, warming, medium length.
The Gigondas has a beautifully complex fruit cake flavour of rich dark berries, dried fruit and spices. The tannins have softened with age and are now a gentle silk over the mouth, not over staying their welcome. I would recommend drinking it now at such beautiful maturity, I wouldn't wait another year.
This wine was apart of a very special occasion for me and it was the perfect choice. (264 views) | | Tasted by rmarkey on 2/7/2020 & rated 90 points: Very good. 14.5% alc. Colour:deep black berry Bouquet: sweet black berries, licorice, cloves, black pepper and spices Palate: just like bouquet, cereal, dark chocolate, full body, great berry mouthfeel, good acid, long finish. At its limits now though. February 2020 (689 views) | | Tasted by Hschmitz on 1/1/2020 & rated 90 points: dejlig syre og balance, kan nemt ligger 3-4 år mere. (680 views) |

Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.
A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
