Tasted by EdKz@comcast.net on 3/13/2021 & rated 93 points: Black fruits, cassis, medium finish (657 views)
Tasted by hosscrow on 10/9/2020 & rated 88 points: Dark ruby red. Opaque. The faint aromas of blackberry, vanilla, and black pepper emerge after several hours of decanting. Light mouthfeel for a Napa Cab with a medium + lively acidity and ripe, nicely drying tannins. Medium finish. A disappointing wine from a vintage with a cold, wet spring, a late fruit set, a mild summer and a harvest that dragged on into November, bedeviled by rain and rot. A horrible year for Napa Cabernet. (716 views)
Tasted by eherns on 7/30/2016 & rated 94 points: The wine has medium acidity. The wine finishes medium. It tastes like black currant (cassis). The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. The wine has smooth texture. (2300 views)
Tasted by camben on 1/11/2016: Not my favourite. Green (2315 views)
Tasted by EdKz@comcast.net on 1/8/2016 & rated 93 points: Tasted at event, Dark Aromatic and Flavor, Medium Body, Balanced Old World Style, delicious cassis, Layered Complexity, Good Finish, Medium Acids and tannin; One of the more enjoyable of 30 wines tasted. (2244 views)
Tasted by tubeman on 6/21/2015 & rated 95 points: Drinking very well. Firm tannins, should continue to get better (2447 views)
Tasted by ersmith on 3/7/2015 & rated 92 points: Ready to drink now (2393 views)
Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 7/4/2014 & rated 91 points: Mostly American Wines; 7/2/2014-7/6/2014: A medium purple color. Beautiful nose of currant jam, fleshy black cherries, sweet lavender and cedar, some dark roast coffee and forest floor. Very complex and evocative on the nose. Full on the palate but some tanginess and grippy tannins. Tart black currants and blueberries, mixed in with notes of peppered steak, mushroom, some sweet and savory spices, spearmint, tobacco. A bit tightly wound, a good decant could help, but perhaps four or five years in the cellar would yield an even more harmonious wine. Includes 13% Petite Verdot, this wine is aged 20 months in 77% new oak, 13.8% alcohol. (1999 views)

Emblem

Producer website

Emblem by Mondavi:
For four generations the Mondavi family has crafted world-class wines in the Napa Valley. In 1999, Michael Mondavi, together with wife Isabel, son Rob Jr., and daughter Dina, purchased the land to plant the Animo Vineyard in Atlas Peak.
Today, the family-owned Estate is comprised of two distinct Napa Valley vineyards with unique growing conditions and terroirs.
In keeping with Mondavi family traditions, farming the Michael Mondavi vineyards adheres to sustainable and organic standards. The family believes that the best grapes come from healthy vineyards and endeavors to maintain the health of
the Napa Valley ecosystem for future generations. Winemaking duties at the Michael Mondavi Family Estate are shared between Michael Mondavi's son, Rob Mondavi Jr., and Tony Coltrin, who understand that wine is a reflection of both
where it comes from and the people who make it. They aim to make wines with integrity, balance and a sense of place.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
