Tasted by sam@thecellarbh.com on 3/27/2021 & rated 86 points: Well past its prime. (1401 views)
Tasted by Ridgerunner on 9/2/2020 & rated 93 points: Very engaging bottle of Zinfandel from Howell Mountain fruit! Quite a bit of life left. Very dark fruit with hints of earth, leather, violets! (1553 views)
Tasted by ebert on 8/31/2019 & rated 90 points: A bit of VA and sweetness when opened. On 2nd night, very well balanced with good complexity. (2013 views)
Tasted by wineoracle on 8/4/2019 & rated 89 points: Black plum, bing cherries in the nose palate of dark fruit, nice finish with lingering spices (1892 views)
Tasted by Buhever on 7/23/2019 & rated 93 points: Dark ruby in color. Black raspberry, herb and a bit of mint on the nose. Darker fruit on the palate with black raspberry, chocolate, herbal tones and dark cherry. Very long finish with the alcohol showing a touch on the finish. Almost no hard edges and they went away entirely when paired with the lamb stew and fire roasted tomato. (1493 views)
Tasted by ebert on 7/23/2019 & rated 86 points: The flavors are now of stewed fruit or raisins -- maybe past its prime. Very disappointing (1191 views)
Tasted by tomlee on 4/21/2019 & rated 93 points: Dark crimson in color. 15.8% ABV. Sublime nose of jammy black fruits, anise and Howell Mountain white pepper. Full bodied with ample acidity. Notably well balanced. Big Zin packed with jammy goodness. Just an array of fruit on the palate. Blackberry, boysenberry, and raspberry with a pepper chaser. Tremendous length on the finish with a dose of tannins. TRB Zinfandel at its finest. Best over the next 1-2 years. (1312 views)
Tasted by ebert on 3/30/2019 & rated 90 points: This Zin seems past it's peak. Flavors and complexity are now muted. (944 views)
Tasted by 1997cobalt on 12/25/2018 & rated 95 points: Probably underrating this one. Just so good. Spicy and earthy with a mouthful of flavor- . Give it a 96 (1087 views)
Tasted by Encinitas_Joe on 11/3/2018 & rated 94 points: Lots of life left in this crowd favorite. (1271 views)
Tasted by Jay Hack on 9/6/2018 & rated 93 points: Shiva for my mother. This is a great wine and I am glad to have shared it with friends. Spicy pepper driven like a lot of Howell Mountain TRB wines. (1343 views)
Tasted by kstoddard on 7/11/2018: Not a fan of this style of wine (1602 views)
Tasted by Bluethunder on 3/4/2018 & rated 92 points: Dark purple with lots of dark mountain fruit, spice, pepper. A bold, lush wine with a long finish. (1700 views)
Tasted by konadog on 9/6/2017 & rated 91 points: better on day 2, tannins were a little more resolved and bright red cherry notes dominated. first night was a little more wound up, with slightly roasted red fruits and some asphalt (2174 views)
Tasted by joannlevey on 8/26/2017: Beautiful! (2017 views)
Tasted by City Squirrel on 6/24/2017 & rated 90 points: Classic Zin with some dark fruits and pepper notes. Decanted over 2 hrs and still had a lot of alcohol / heat on the nose and pallet. Never really seemed to blow off. Held up well to some BBQ Ribs, but have had better Zins in this price point. Probably my least favorite varietal from this producer. YMMV (2459 views)
Tasted by Bluethunder on 5/27/2017 & rated 92 points: PnP, dark fruit, pepper and spice, good complexity, smooth with a long finish. Great wine. (2041 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 5/20/2017 & rated 89 points: 39th Annual Zinfandel Retrospective - the 2012s (R&D's): Aromas of blue fruit and pepper with a hint of raisin too. Dark raspberry and briary fruit on the palate with a peppery finish. Aromas become more red-fruited, as does the palate. Somewhat tannic; spice & raspberry finish. 89-90.

My #6, Domino's #4
Group #5, 49 pts (2263 views)
Tasted by PimpDaddy2Kool on 5/8/2017 & rated 91 points: Decanted two hours. Wonderful wine. Fruit forward with terroir but not too jammy. Went great with steak. (1570 views)
Tasted by Encinitas_Joe on 5/1/2017 & rated 94 points: Another bottle and we were equally impressed. Dark color and beautiful style. Not your jammy Zinfandel if that is your taste but incredibly smooth and flavorful mountain fruit. Left us battling for the last drop of this one. (1743 views)
Tasted by ogres3 on 4/6/2017 & rated 92 points: Decanted about two hours. Inky purple. Great ripe black and blue/purple fruit. Integrated, complex, full bodied. Long finish. Very nice wine. (1484 views)
Tasted by ebert on 8/26/2016 & rated 87 points: Almost a band-aid smell on opening. Tannins astringent and fruit flavors muted. Improved on 2nd night.Flavors seem over-extracted. Might be an off bottle.
Disappointing considering we loved a previous body. (2158 views)
Tasted by ogres3 on 8/24/2016 & rated 93 points: Really enjoy this wine. Dense. Black and blue fruit. After 90 minutes or so alcohol and tannins blow off and very pleasant interesting ripe fruit. Pretty long finish. (2035 views)
Tasted by danielbleier on 7/31/2016 & rated 92 points: Powerful blackberry and boysenberry, mixed with licorice and mint flavors. fruit bomb, but lively and enjoyable. (2005 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
