Tasted by SlimShaney on 12/29/2020 & rated 93 points: Love it. 7 yo is drinking beautifully. OK its super simple but it's bold and flavourful and unique. Mu favourite cheap merlot anywhere in the world. Go Molly! (822 views)
Tasted by madvitale on 12/28/2018 & rated 88 points: Still drinking well, but with a noticeable alcoholic nose. Not egregious, but noticeable. Had with a pot roast and that seemed to work. (971 views)
Tasted by SherwoodForbes on 5/18/2018 & rated 85 points: A lot of sugar. Missing complexity. Big fan of Mollydooker, not so much this merlot. (1351 views)
Tasted by Esteban on 3/11/2017 & rated 86 points: Vraiment vraiment lourd. Meilleur après un bon shake. (2070 views)
Tasted by Dmiller3 on 11/25/2016 & rated 88 points: Very good - jammy as noted by others - smooth - ate with a stew (2033 views)
Tasted by ozyloy on 7/30/2016 & rated 90 points: Popped and poured.
Apperance: Clear purple. Well-formed legs. Clean in the glass, in contrast to the heavily extracted Carnival of Love.
Nose: Dark berries, blueberries, plum. Vanilla oak and some sweet spices. Noticeable heat.
Palate: Blackberries, stewed prunes, a hefty dose of vanilla, and some milk chocolate notes towards the finish. Medium(+) flavour intensity (the fruits), and high acidity helps give it some balance, although nothing like an Old World merlot.
Big, sweet and enough of a casual crowd-pleaser, as per what you'd expect, but I doubt this will develop much further. (2053 views)
Tasted by JoeCompton on 5/23/2016 & rated 88 points: Dark garnet, full body
Nose: Blackberry, blueberry, scorched earth/copper
Palate: blueberry jam, cooked blackberry, black pepper and vanilla

This wine punched me in the face, very high heat. Very bold and aggressive up front, long silky finish.

Tasted by SlimShaney on 3/10/2016 & rated 92 points: At 17.5% alc its hard to recall ever seeing a higher content, although my memory is probably already impaired. It's beautifully integrated with a hallogenically warm glow enveloping the palate. Offers viscous chocolatey glycerin. Given how fashionably modern Mollydooker is, and how antique I perceive merlot to be, cereberally it's incompatible. But this is nothing like the merlot you know; so stop thinking and start drinking.  Tasted by WineMedic on 2/13/2016 & rated 90 points: Clear, purple color. Beautiful dark berry aromas. Dry, full bodied. Heavy alcohol but mixes well with the dark fruit flavor. High acidity compliments well. Tannins are unfounded, as we would say over the radio. The flavor and the viscosity takes over, even though it works well. Chocolate notes on the long finish. New world Merlot isn't old world merlot, which I like a lot better. I love Mollydooker. The wine is good and I do recommend it, but not my favorite merlot. (1168 views)
Tasted by ubercuvee on 4/5/2015 & rated 60 points: I tasted the whole range and my notes on all the wines under A$75 are similar so I won't spam cellartracker. This was the "highlight" though.
My notes were simply: "Repugnant. Hint of artificial sweetener on the finish. How do people drink this?"
The whole portfolio has zero tannins, zero structure and is basically like blend of Ribena and Vodka. Vile. (1736 views)
Tasted by Jonnysul on 1/25/2015 & rated 90 points: Definitely not your grandfather's Merlot, this is a knock your socks off big, bold Merlot consistent with other Mollydooker wines. Lacks a bit of finesse but a good wine nonetheless. (1465 views)
Tasted by alfaverde on 7/13/2014 & rated 91 points: We are huge fans of Mollydooker's portfolio and this scooter continues with their excellent style. This is a big fruity wine by most standards, but is a bit more subdued (in flavor) than its sisters. The nose is a little deceiving as it is nowhere near as hot as its alcohol content would suggest. My fiancee tried a sniff and sip to critique and was completely caught off guard when it hit her tongue. "my god, what's the alcohol content", she said to which I replied, "it's a Mollydooker, it's going to be pretty high, haha". We both have enjoyed this one. Normally I don't really do Merlots, and don't really know much about them. I will say I like this one, and it truly tastes like a quality Mollydooker wine. As a side note, it should be noted that it plays well with umami and asian spice. We had a simple stir fry of oyster mushroom, cabbage, kale and carrot that was lightly spiced. Cheers! (1759 views)

Merlot

Merlot is a dark blue–colored wine grape variety, that is used as both a blending grape and for varietal wines. The name Merlot is thought to be a diminutive of merle, the French name for the blackbird, probably a reference to the color of the grape. Its softness and "fleshiness", combined with its earlier ripening, makes Merlot a popular grape for blending with the sterner, later-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, which tends to be higher in tannin.
