Intense nose of leather, soil, black fruit. The same are found in the mouth, with very smooth tannins, still lively acidity, and long persistence. Now great but it's reaching its peak, maybe few more years before it can be on the descendant side (mine traveled across Europe). (716 views) | | Tasted by winot on 9/27/2017 & rated 91 points: Classic Classico! - Medium ruby with a hint of bricking - nose of cherry herb olive a bit of oak - palate is perfect- v g acidity supports cherry flavours w oak notes - finishes dry with noble tannins, a bit of a floral note on the palate too - really excellent Ch Cl (1151 views) | | Tasted by plinymajor on 1/6/2017 & rated 90 points: Nose of raspberry, a bit of licorice, rose petals. Medium body, high acidity. Very fresh and tight; everything is on its place, no signs of evolution in the red fruit. For me, it's on its peak (although some would like more evolution in ιτ). A very elegant interpretation of Chianti Classico, nothing rustic here. (1490 views) | | Tasted by marco_graz on 12/28/2015 & rated 90 points: Perfect ruby color, not too dark. Cherry at the nose and very good persistence in the mouth. Very good value per money. Update Mar 2018: perfectly evolved wine, still few years before the top. Persistence, light tannins and a balanced acidity make this a perfect pair for a good steak. (2092 views) | | Tasted by Finare Vinare on 7/10/2015 & rated 90 points: Transparent bright ruby. Savoury aromas of sour cherries, black tea, sage, tobacco and a whiff of horse stable. Fairly slender on the palate, ripe but not extracted, has good concentration and balance with medium alcohol (13%). Smooth texture but slightly bitter tannins on the finish. The expression is honest and old-school, very sangiovese, better than most Chianti Classico but a bit more rustic than Montevertine. (2857 views) | | Tasted by jonanator on 6/3/2015 & rated 89 points: Well done wine. No non-sense and pleasing. Good value. (1829 views) | | Tasted by Anthony Lombardi on 4/25/2015 & rated 87 points: Breathed in glasses around 30 min before serving. Clear light ruby red. Spiced cherry nose with some lighter herbal/menthol aromatics. Straightforward Chianti palate. Cherries, spice cabinet, tobacco. Light tannin & above average acidity. Balanced & enjoyable, great food wine. (1694 views) | | Tasted by geeky? not sure on 3/17/2015: Very good. Cherry and slight tobacco on the backend. Generally classic, but much lighter bodied than expected (though I don't know much about Chianti). (1409 views) | | Tasted by Espen123 on 3/1/2015 & rated 86 points: God aroma av kirsebær og noe floralt, myke tanniner og frisk syre. Litt lite fylde og ettersmak til å bli topp Chianti, men absolutt god. (1043 views) | | Tasted by LoireFan on 11/26/2014: Would buy again. (855 views) |

| Monteraponi Producer websiteMonteraponi Chianti Classico Monteraponi Chianti Classico is blended from 90% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo grapes; it is an elegant wine with a traditional style, its scents are bound to ripe intact red fruits, which are well combined with a balanced structure, smooth tannins and a limited acidity. The wine is aged with its for 12 months 30% in Allier barriques for a second passage and the remaining 70% in Allier casks of 23 hl. Before being released it is aged for one month in concrete and three months in bottle.Sangiovese BlendSangiovese blend is used in CellarTracker for Italian wines to represent wines predominantly made of Sangiovese and blended with traditional Italian grapes. It is different than SuperTuscan which is a blend of Sangiovese with non-traditional (eg Bordeaux) varieties, often in closer to equal portions. For example, Chianti is at least 80% Sangiovese and will always be listed Sangiovese blend.Italy Italian Wines (ItalianMade.com, The Italian Trade Commission) | Italian Wine Guide on the WineDoctorTuscany Tuscany (ItalianMade.com) | TuscanytChianti Consorzio Vino Chianti | Chianti (wikipedia) |
