Tasted by jgreco on 3/3/2024 flawed bottle: oxed (319 views)
Tasted by pryby on 12/11/2022 & rated 91 points: Bought from Bedrock library release in 2020. This is not normally my cup of tea… Very, very rich, but without being cloying. There is a toffee/caramel like element here, but it doesn’t read as sweet. In the release email, Morgan used the descriptor “figgy” which is dead on here. Not sure how this would relate with food, but as a holiday season nightcap it was really lovely. (860 views)
Tasted by tuscanswede on 7/10/2022 flawed bottle: Normally keep my notes private, but entering this as a data point for others. Completely oxidized. Kept a second day just in case, but first Bedrock I have ever dumped. This is from the 2020 Library release. NR (995 views)
Tasted by mkribar on 11/13/2021 & rated 92 points: This tasting note is from day two, when the wine was much better for my palate. Semillon characteristics on the nose: honey, figs, and lanolin. The mano/papaya from the sauvignon blanc is still there, but it's fading into the background. A little oxidation, but nothing unreasonable for a nine year old wine.

Round mouthfeel: time has let this unfurl. Honeycomb. Brown butter. Pear/melon. Nice acid too. This is in a really nice midway point as the fruit is gradually dissipating into tertiary character. This was a surprisingly good paring with homemade mapo tofu. (1389 views)
Tasted by PSUSteve on 11/6/2021 & rated 87 points: PnP. On pouring, this is dark and appears either starting to oxidize heavily or as someone asked - is that an old Sauternes. On the palate, nothing was “wrong” but it had no umphh at all. Kinda flat and non-descript. (1379 views)
Tasted by rldixon on 9/4/2021 & rated 93 points: This blend is showing very well at eight years. Ripe pears and green apples, well-balanced with acidity. One of my favorite whites, even without the dog. (1531 views)
Tasted by rdf58 on 11/1/2020 & rated 90 points: Cellared under reasonable conditions but starting to show some oxidation. An aged white at this stage. Stone fruit overshadowed by minerality and a hint of bitterness. Very consistent with recent TNs. Drink up. (2114 views)
Tasted by TeamNorton on 10/24/2020: Enjoyed with spaetzle and schnitzel - good balance. (1689 views)
Tasted by travelme on 10/17/2020 & rated 90 points: A good wine but not my favorite Bedrock. 55% Semillion and 45% Sauvignon Blanc, this was a great way to start our wine event tonight. It was good from the pop and pour but had to be put on ice to get just a tad bit colder. I got apple, apricot, and honey notes on the palate with some lingering and integrated oak and vanilla flavors. The oak seemed to provide a little heat on the finish. All things considered, another good Bedrock but between QPR and other great Bedrocks, I likely wouldn't repurchase. Have one more bottle that I will look to consume soon based on this bottle.  Tasted by Mootsie on 10/6/2020: If you could liquify applesauce, that’s what this wine tastes like. Sour apple, cinnamon, clove.
Glad I tried it. Not my cup of tea. (1822 views)
Tasted by pakabear on 8/17/2020 & rated 89 points: A bit oxidized at this point, cork was soaked to about 60%. Light citrus, lemon rind, honey, butterscotch, yellow apple, really good balance. For my taste this bottle was past it’s prime. (2065 views)
Tasted by jgreco on 8/9/2020 & rated 90 points: This bottle of the ‪2012 Cuvée Kataras did not show as well as the previous one. Lovely golden color. It needed 2-3 hours of air to even come alive, but then showed pear, apple, apricot, andagave. More Semillon than Sauvignon Blanc in character. Tannins are resolved, but the oak may never fully integrate. Fantastic waxy texture. (1483 views)
Tasted by grog on 7/30/2020 & rated 92 points: I found this was excellent right out of the gate and didn't really change that much after the first 15-20 minutes open. I see why Bedrock released this this past spring, as it's really right in the zone. The Semillion dominates the nose with wax/lanolin, mango, and the classic fig note. Much the same on the palate but here we get the acidic lift from the SB. I see how the model here is 'serious' white Bordeaux. There's a bit of wood present but it's not at all dominant or distracting. If you don't enjoy that heavy figgy Semillion profile, this might not be your style. I loved it and found that on a warm summer evening, it was a brilliant match with salade nicoise from our backyard garden. (1414 views)
Tasted by Backdoctor on 7/26/2020: seems to have lost its fruit. Not bad, but was probably better earlier on. (1402 views)
Tasted by beezer6 on 7/26/2020 & rated 90 points: Showing nice signs of age - slight golden color.
Really nice. Slightly more robust qualities as a whole. (1438 views)
Tasted by mdefreitas on 7/12/2020: Although I normally like Bedrock white wines, I never warmed up to this one. I decided to give this some air before drinking, as others suggested. While decanting did help a little, I still got a boozy, woody, waxy note that did not appeal to me. UPDATE: Well... after 24 hours, this did turn into something I liked (not loved). The fruit intensified and manifested itself as dried pineapples and apricots; notes of honey and cream emerged as well. Interesting wine. (1428 views)
Tasted by Dlwg1 on 7/3/2020 & rated 90 points: Fantastic wine! Strong notes of pear with hints of apple and citrus. Medium body with a solid 7-10 sec finish. Served at 60 degrees. (1425 views)
Tasted by BBShop10r on 7/3/2020 & rated 91 points: Deep straw/goldenrod color. Carmel, Apple, citrus, oak and a bit of funk on the nose. Honey, oaky, mineral, ripe apricot and earthy palate. Long finish. Funky wine that paired with many foods. (1349 views)
Tasted by Ridgerunner on 6/24/2020 & rated 92 points: This isn't a wine in my normal quality zone based upon varietals... but there is something about the blend and the nature of this wine I find exceeds expectations! (1374 views)
Tasted by zscheiner on 6/21/2020: Really enjoyed this, but Ohne’s note is spot on. Wood forward upon opening but really blossoms with air. Mature, honeyed fruit and flowers, accented by exotic spice. Lovely and unusual. (1463 views)
Tasted by GaoCellar on 6/13/2020 & rated 90 points: Darker yellow suggested some age; boozy and almost port-like on the nose on the open. Given a couple hours, it mellowed out nicely. Quite an interesting experience. (1417 views)
Tasted by ohne_musik on 6/6/2020 & rated 92 points: Quote oak-forward on the nose - a pity. In the mouth, there’s a lot to like - rich, tropical semillon fruits, mouthwatering acidity, bitter grapefruit pith, caramel, butterscotch/diacetyl (perhaps a bit bothersome as well), and generally quite well balanced and vibrant. After 2 hour, the wine loses some of the oak and butter tones. After 4-5 hours, it kicks into another gear... the oak/butter seems like just a distant memory, and you really get a sense of the vibrancy of the Underlying fruit - mango, golden raisin and dried tart apricot, with there’s a tremendous persistence to the finish. 86 to start, 92 after 4 hours. Do yourself a favor and give this a long decant before drinking. (1540 views)
Tasted by Mootsie on 5/23/2020: Dark golden color. Baked apple with cinnamon and nutmeg nose. A bit of tart, sour apple, lemon and touch of white pepper. More medium body. It’s unique. Never had a wine like it. I am not getting any of the white peach, honey, melon or similar notes as others mentioned. More sour, tart. Could be flawed, but not really a flavor profile I enjoy. Add one more stamp on my wine journey passport.

UPDATE day 2. The sourness is mostly gone. The wine is rounder. I still get a lot of apple, apple/cinnamon notes. (2008 views)
Tasted by amoryb on 4/19/2020: Pale yellow with a little green in color. Funky, big nose with a lot of honey and apricot. I tasted a good amount of oak initially but after sitting in a glass for 30 min this had somewhat resolved and good acid came though. Tastes like a big wine, viscous, and I definitely see the waxy notes from other comments. (1998 views)
Tasted by Martin Redmond on 1/20/2020 & rated 91 points: Brilliant golden-yellow color with white peach, green melon lanolin, wool, lemon and subtle spice aromas. On the palate it’s medium bodied, and rich, yet very refreshing with mouth-watering acidity and ripe white peach, melon, honey, lemon, and spice flavors with a long finish. Blend of 55% ancient vine Semillon planted in 1886 at the Monte Rosso Vyd, and 45% Sauvignon Blanc from Kick Ranch Vyd in Roncon Valley. Barrel fermented in55% new French oak. 14.5% abv|SRP-$38 (1500 views)

2012 Bedrock Wine Co. Cuvée Karatas

Winemaker's notes:
"We have been sitting on this one for a year and a half. Though it is often hard to read the tea leaves that are cellartracker notes it did seem that many people opened earlier incarnations of this wine expecting it to be more like New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, or something of the type, and then were surprised to find a baby beast of a wine in need of some age to tame the rough age. As a result we decided to hold onto this one a bit before release. Although to be perfectly honest, we love this so much we don’t even really want to sell it. Based around the oldest Semillon left in the New World at Monte Rosso Vineyard, the wine also includes some perfumed Sauvignon Blanc. Barrel fermented and aged for 18 months. This is a rich white wine full of fig, honey, stone fruits and a trace of tobacco leaf, balanced by nice acidity and freshness thanks to the SB."

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
