Possible addt'l info2013 Bravium Sauvignon Blanc White WeddingBlend: 94% Russian River Sauvignon Blanc, 6% Sonoma Carneros Chardonnay Alcohol: 13.5% Total Acidity: 0.57 g/100ml pH: 3.52 Residual Sugar: 0.03%
Fermentation & Aging: Hand-harvested fruit was whole-cluster pressed into stainless steel tanks (2/3) and French oak barrels (1/3) to build complexity. The tank fermentations were kept at cold temperatures to preserve the freshness of the fruit. Secondary fermentation was suppressed. After eight months of aging, the wine was blended and then bottled three months later.
Harvest Conditions: The warm 2013 growing season allowed for the development of balanced fruit. Most of the Sauvignon Blanc fruit, 94% of the blend, is sourced from a vineyard in the Russian River Valley appellation of Sonoma County. This vineyard resides on ancient alluvial fans of impoverished soils that contribute intense fruit character. In addition, we include 6% Chardonnay fruit from a cool climate vineyard in Sonoma Carneros, which imparts vibrant acidity and finesse.Sauvignon Blanc Varietal CharacterUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountySonoma CountySonoma Coast |
