Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 88.4 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 55 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by vitroman on 12/4/2021 flawed bottle: Undrinkable, oxidized and not pleasant. (501 views)
Tasted by IlonaN on 6/1/2020 & rated 84 points: Mellow and soft on the palate. Most of the acidity has faded so if you have any, drink up now! (766 views)
Tasted by IlonaN on 1/2/2018 & rated 89 points: This wine has become much more rounded and gentle, not what many tasters prefer but as an aperitif it is just right. Good stone fruit notes, still ample acidity and good length. Drink now. (1969 views)
Tasted by IlonaN on 10/1/2017 & rated 88 points: Acidity has retreated just a little bit, making the wine more friendly to sip on its own. Nice lemon & green apple flavors with a hint of brioche. (2530 views)
Tasted by SonomaCoaster on 8/16/2017 & rated 92 points: Has gained complexity, rich tropical fruits with papaya and lemon outstanding, great mouthfeel, long finish. (2683 views)
Tasted by MCrawford on 8/2/2017 & rated 88 points: Fabulous summer white. Any kind of salad or light apertif pairs well with this. Pale gold color, crisp, clean. (2685 views)
Tasted by Barry'sFault on 2/10/2017 & rated 92 points: Last of my 14's, but looking forward to my case of 15's. Superb chard. (3533 views)
Tasted by RMapou on 1/15/2017 & rated 88 points: Still drinking well. Now on to 2015. (2503 views)
Tasted by anderegg on 1/14/2017 & rated 89 points: PnP out of refrigerator, so too cold to start. Color is pale yellow-green. Aromas of honey, lime, apple. On the palate this is soft and almost oily with flavors of green apple, honey and pineapple. Drinking before dinner with rosemary goat cheese on crackers. Full bodied. Wine complimented dinner of roasted tilefish and roasted broccoli with mushrooms. (1959 views)
Tasted by Barry'sFault on 11/5/2016 & rated 90 points: Hate to see it go! One more '14 left! Superb honey with back notes of ripe pineapple and no oak! (2113 views)
Tasted by RMapou on 7/25/2016 & rated 88 points: Refreshing for summer. Paired well with a fruit salad. (2549 views)
Tasted by redmancge on 7/14/2016 & rated 88 points: Really nice bottle of burgundy. If it comes up again on WTSO buy some more. Should be good another for another year or so. (1667 views)
Tasted by Marais on 6/28/2016 & rated 89 points: Lovely wine for the price. Surprisingly flavorful for a Macon. (1898 views)
Tasted by SonomaCoaster on 5/30/2016 & rated 91 points: Great as always. Balanced. Buy this by case if you can. (1910 views)
Tasted by mrmikemtr on 1/10/2016 & rated 89 points: Smooth. 6 months served well to smooth out the carbonated mouth feel. Another 6 months would do this wine justice. Still not picking up much flavor, but for 14$ from WTSO, can't complain too much. Good table wine. (2944 views)
Tasted by IlonaN on 10/29/2015 & rated 88 points: Some evolution has occurred, with more forthcoming aromas of lychee, mandarin and citrus combined with a gentle floral note. Palate is still a bit too bracing for my taste, with a tart, acidic finish. Probably another year in bottle will make this wine sing. (As an addendum, I kept a portion of this bottle corked in the fridge for almost a week. It proved to be moderately oxidized with a sour finish). (2669 views)
Tasted by Barry'sFault on 10/18/2015 & rated 89 points: Consistently delicious and always a surprise for guests when I tell them it's a chardonnay. (2660 views)
Tasted by RMapou on 9/28/2015 & rated 89 points: Love this wine every time. Not much more to say. (2531 views)
Tasted by RMapou on 8/27/2015 & rated 88 points: Apple with a hint of lemon. Even better than 2013. (2636 views)
Tasted by SonomaCoaster on 8/23/2015 & rated 91 points: Consistently great. Love the mouthfeel, great fruit, nice finish. Buy this stuff by the case if you can. (1678 views)
Tasted by mrmikemtr on 8/12/2015 & rated 84 points: Very minerally. Bubbly. Acidic finish. Not much flavor. (1440 views)
Tasted by Richard123 on 6/16/2015 & rated 86 points: Having loved the 2013, I was rather disappointed in this vintage. Quite tart and acidic, it didn't have the body or fullness of its older sister. Will continue to monitor, of course. (1625 views)
Tasted by jmull on 6/8/2015 & rated 89 points: Best described as "happy." This is so bright and appealing and easy. Perfect Macon and stellar value. (1671 views)
Tasted by IlonaN on 5/16/2015 & rated 88 points: Steely and minerally, with bracing acidity. Neess to soften just a bit to show some fruit. Hold. (1503 views)
Tasted by Barry'sFault on 5/10/2015 & rated 89 points: So delicious! Will buy a case if I see it up again. (1412 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
