Tasted by JuliannaDHS on 5/25/2016 & rated 92 points: This wine greatly exceeded my expectations. Aromas of dark fruits and dark chocolate gave way to flavors of leather, ripe blackberries and cinnamon. Not jammy at all, just smooth and delicious with a long finish that made me wish I could drink this whole bottle myself.
An excellent wine and one to savor now, but nowhere over the hill. (1176 views)
Tasted by HemiCuda on 3/2/2012: showing so well....a bit alcoholic, but well structured and balanced, good acidity. Threw many for a loop....BDX, Cote Rotie, etc., and justifiably so. Besides the bit of heat, maybe less peppery and spicy, and certainly not as grapey fruity as Zin can get. (2170 views)
Tasted by MarRxK on 12/3/2006: Aromas: baked plum, slight menthol, wet earth, heat, chocolate Structure: baked cherry and plum, bittersweet chocolate, some menthol, heat, very well balanced by subtle but dry tannins Finish: long, dry, cocoa, some green (tannic) notes, then bitersweet chocolate 2.4/3.0 (2505 views)
Tasted by jmcnally on 10/24/2006 & rated 84 points: Nothing special. (2839 views)
Tasted by twoamps on 4/7/2005 & rated 90 points: nice to have a napa zin occasionally to remind how different they are form sonoma. Berry, pepper, some good structure. Wonderful for $13. (1678 views)
Tasted by pinotwinelover on 3/20/2005 & rated 87 points: The wine had evolved a bit since I last drank it. Still the tannins were too firm, I don't think they will subside with age. So drink up! (2279 views)
Tasted by pinotwinelover on 6/25/2004 & rated 85 points: Nice wine with BBQ but nothing special. Would not buy again. (2026 views)
Tasted by peternelson on 11/2/2003 & rated 87 points: Sandra’s: W/Dan--Deep dark purple; earthy blkbrry, some blk pepper notes following; med. +bod, med. t’s, well bal, but not very complex, not super intense. (653 views)
Tasted by twoamps on 10/31/2003 & rated 90 points: "dark” fruit, almost port like in its flavors (403 views)
Tasted by twoamps on 9/15/2003 & rated 90 points: nice spicy old fashioned zin. should last a while (388 views)
Tasted by twoamps on 7/22/2003 & rated 90 points: nice spicy old fashioned zin. should last a while (294 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
