Tasted by pauldenisarcher on 2/14/2024 & rated 90 points: Could be nearing the end, tasting a bit like apple juice. (890 views)
Tasted by aquacongas on 1/28/2024 & rated 95 points: Krug Lover Dinner with Olivier Krug (Daniel Dal Ban 1876 (Tafelspitz) Düsseldorf): not blind
Didn't have it for a long time. Better than expected. 1995 is not my favourite vintage at Krug. Close to his peak. Saline, lush and balanced. 95 (1414 views)
Tasted by Francophile1 on 12/1/2023: 50th Birthday Bash: Wonderfully aged vintage brut. Full bodied, slightly oxidized due to age, and a fine long finish. Drink up. Probably won't get much better with age. (1310 views)
Tasted by hprphf on 11/19/2023 & rated 94 points: Ye Paulee (Hao Noodle): Magnum. Very caramel showing, good weight. 94 (1483 views)
Tasted by hprphf on 11/16/2023 & rated 94 points: Premier Cru Table (The Fifth Avenue Hotel): Magnum. Lovely freshness coming together, so balanced with bright acidity. 94 (1412 views)
Tasted by tcarter on 10/29/2023 & rated 99 points: Ojai Food + Wine Festival; 10/26/2023-10/29/2023 (Ojai Valley Inn): WHOA. Drank this after a '98 and '96 and I would have guessed it was a decade+ younger than those wines. Full of life, lighter in color, very little oxidized notes, FULL of bubbles. Wow. Just stunning. (1255 views)
Tasted by sdr on 9/16/2023 & rated 94 points: Very mature, verging on post mature. Deeply burnished copper color. Classic Krug notes of rye bread and walnuts. Good mousse for age. Fragrant. Deep and rich and lingering. Good acidity. But Krug does not age forever even from a perfectly stored bottle like this one. (1331 views)
Tasted by soyhead on 8/17/2023: served first at a champagne/chevalier dinner and it stole the show. very rich wine with loads of dried turkish apricots which provided a certain rich heaviness but that was nothing compared to the bold searing, mouthcoating, and absolutely singing acidity that followed. Overall very rich, very fresh, and very alive. At first we all sat around and sipped in dumbfound silence. Memorable wow wine. (1211 views)
Tasted by Eric on 4/15/2023: ESTG does Champagne (West Seattle, WA, USA): Nervous, vinous, really mineral, almost a totally different style than the others. (2329 views)
Tasted by acyso on 4/6/2023 & rated 95 points: BYOK with Olivier Krug at Next (Chicago, IL): Of the four vintages in the 1990s (1990, 1995, 1996, 1998), Olivier says that this is the one that tends to be favoured the most when the family drinks them together. It's not a showy wine, but there's just something really well put together about it. Very structured, but excellent balance between fruit that is more primary than not and the acidic tension. Still drinks quite fresh; it wouldn't be difficult to mistake this for something 10 years younger). Sturdy and stalwart; I'm a little sad that I missed the boat on picking these up for my own cellar, as this seems to just keep getting better and better. (2621 views)
Tasted by canan on 3/18/2023 & rated 96 points: KYD #2.2 (Valby Brasserie): Has a bitter red apple fruit core with a plenty of structure combined with flavors for walnuts and rye. Lovely floral nose and expressive aftertaste.
Lovely balance and drinking great right now! (678 views)
Tasted by MC2 Wines on 2/3/2023: La Festa del Barolo: Gala Dinner (The Pool in NYC): At a certain point in the night there comes a time for bubbles and this was definitely one of them. From a magnum. Very popular. It seems like the bottle got crushed pretty fast. It’s a bit toasty and brawny in style and yet kindof wonderful to ‘finish’ the night (minus the final pours and then some young DP at the after party) (2556 views)
Tasted by MC2 Wines on 1/21/2023: The 50 Big Bash (Harry's NYC): Great to check in on this as we've got a magnum we're planning to bring to an event in a few weeks. This was great. Nutty and interesting and kindof a bit of a brawny style of champagne. More muscular. Intense. Drinks very well though. (2392 views)

Color: pale golden lemon approaching an amber color but still has yellow tinge.
Legs: N/A Nose: baked french bread, yeast, brioche, caramel clusters, lemon, orange, fruitcake, lemon candies,
Palate: brioche, orange, lemon, ginger, green apple, buttered toast, caramel,
Finish: Wow! Just plain wow! Hey, there’s just so much going on the palate here. Same notes here as on the palate and some other stuff I cannot describe.
Comments: This sparkling wine has just incredible depth and texture as everybody on CT describes! Best aged Champagne I’ve ever had.
Pairing Suggestions: caviar, oysters, tempura, shrimp, lobster, etc.

Tasted by Seafoam Manor on 12/30/2022 & rated 98 points: Sadly, the last of my, oddly, five bottles and each one has been a slightly different version of spectacular. These just hit all the notes you could ask from from a Champagne; there's power to the fruit, yeasty, autolytic, savory notes from the process and a deep richness and complexity from its age. High acid, intensity of flavor, a constantly changing kaleidoscope of complexity and wildly long on the finish. A tiny sip lingers to an almost impossible degree. This was amazingly versatile with food and a perfect pairing with the entire, "not heavier meats", portion of a high level tasting menu. This is probably edging into the back side of its peak drinking plateau, but it didn't feel like it was at risk of falling apart. The current pricing for Vintage Krug is a bit of a shame, but with age these are truly special and worth the occasional splurge... except maybe the '03, which was only "really good". (1342 views)
Tasted by StiGGe on 12/16/2022 & rated 91 points: Medium light color with fairly active bubbles in the glass. The cork gave a faint pop, on a scale of 2 out of 5.

This vintage has a very high dose of acid. Tastes of citrus, green apples, light pastry, toast and brioche.

In my opinion, a little too young Krug to open now. Should be stored for about 2-3 more years. Have another bottle and will be back in a few years with another review.

Krug is always Krug, then it depends on what you compare it to. Krug 76, 79, 88 and 89 will always have a special place in my heart!

But Krug 95 is a stable, good, fresh and pure-bred champagne. Although it lacks some complexity and deepness as other vintages have, its ready to drink now as it is, enjoy! (1480 views)
 Tasted by S.Hilmand on 12/10/2022 & rated 95 points: Wow (1266 views)
Tasted by Cailles on 11/23/2022 & rated 94 points: Krug Lunch (7x GC, 7x Vintage, 3x CdM, 1x CdA): Seven vintages of Krug from 1988 to 2008. Consensus winner was the 1996 (98pts) with an unmatched layerdness and elegance. The 2002 (97pts) has equal features but doesn‘t have that extra 6 years of maturity. The 2004 (96pts) outperformed expectations, round and harmonious, beautiful first window of maturity. The 1998 was better from magnum (94pts) than 75cl (92pts) but is a leaner vintage. The 1995 (94pts) is fully mature and beautifully expressive. The two disappointments were a very lean 2008 (92pts) and a very elegant 1988 Collection (88pts) which, unfortunately, had too much sherry notes.

TN: Intriguing briochy nose. Very round and creamy texture, elegant and light with a good weight. Very nice and textured, chiseled and toasty, missing a touch of freshness or rather tension. Certainly at its peak and best today. Drink up. (2150 views)
Tasted by hajoha on 11/21/2022 & rated 93 points: Krug 1995.
Denne er fullmoden.
Vakker og ekspressiv på duft, men vi beveger oss mot nedfallsepler.
Absolutt ikke over the hill, men lite oppoverbakke igjen her.
Inntrykket fortsetter i munn.
Fullmodent og mangler litt livsgnist.
Fortsatt en flott vin med høy konsentrasjon og herlig drikkeglede.
Lang finish med modne epler og pen nerve.
Drikk nå.

Tasted by ubercuvee on 11/3/2022: PYCM time; 11/2/2022-11/3/2022 (Noize): (mag) Joyously fresh but showing some lovely secondary notes on the palate too. For me this is at peak. a WOW champagne from mag. (1653 views)
Tasted by Beachfan on 10/23/2022 & rated 96 points: A bit more lemon than the 96 and some mature yeasty notes but deep and long. Fabulous! (1276 views)
Tasted by rc@ughey on 8/22/2022 & rated 96 points: Good grief. This is *awesome* right now. Still fresh and vibrant but man this is about the deepest, most layered, most complex Champagne I can recall. Still showing lots of fruit but also nuts, brioche, and grated ginger. Very, very long. Everything in the right place -- and with this wine everything is a lot of things. Wow. (1952 views)
Tasted by vetty on 6/5/2022 & rated 94 points: Pronounced aroma of yellow fruits, orange fruits like apricot. Some white flower and lots of yeast flavor. Ripen fruits.
Intended flavor intensity with m acidity and medium finish. Not that crisp and vibrant (2196 views)
Tasted by vinkeger on 4/30/2022 flawed bottle: Ox. (1917 views)
Tasted by BenBlu on 3/30/2022 & rated 97 points: En magnum during a fun 90s night only wine not served blind. So much to love here - it's still fresh but it's also so deep and has this nice caramel touch to it. We also had the 98 and 96 Krug that evening and all were sublime with 96 and 95 just edging the 98. (2592 views)

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Click for a list of bestselling items from all of France.
Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
