Tasted by RGCM Gananda on 11/21/2015 & rated 89 points: Tasted at the winery. This is the oldest Finger Lakes riesling I've ever tasted and shows just how long a quality wine from this region will last. Floral, spice and minerals on the nose which was similar in profile to the 2014, but softer and yet, more complex aromatically. Soft fruit upfront with apple and varied tropical fruit, but the balancing acidity kept this firmly in the dry style. Medium bodied and fully smooth and integrated, the fruit was soft, rather than bright but the acidity balanced it perfectly so the wine felt complete rather than fading. Based on where the fruit and acidity are today, this wine should continue to drink at this level for another couple of years before it finally starts to fade. (1163 views)
Tasted by Dickdoc49 on 9/6/2010 & rated 89 points: Hint of acetate on initial nose and taste that blows off to reveal a mix of complex tropical fruit and citrus. Good balance and acidity. Still very enjoyable (2920 views)
Tasted by Dickdoc49 on 8/17/2008 & rated 90 points: Still fresh and clean. Window may well extend5 yrs (2884 views)
Tasted by robnmo on 3/13/2008 & rated 90 points: beautiful nose of citrus and floral notes, along with a bit of pineapple. nice minerality and good acidity. The acidity wasn't as sharp as it was in the prior bottle, I had drank. Still a nice complex riesling. (2837 views)
Tasted by robnmo on 7/1/2007 & rated 90 points: The wine overall was better when not as chilled.
Nice and complex Riesling, the best from the finger lakes, I have had so far.
Nice color followed by nice floral and citrus tones. On the palate the acid and minerality was very nice.
Would buy again. (3144 views)

Tasted by brooklynguy on 2/11/2007 & rated 88 points: nice floral notes, pure and fresh, somewhat simple. not as impressive as past bottles (2183 views)
Tasted by brooklynguy on 1/9/2007 & rated 89 points: requires a little air time for the full floral aromas to emerge. excellent wine indeed. (2322 views)
Tasted by brooklynguy on 11/5/2006 & rated 89 points: nose is floral with some ripe white melon. clean and pure in the mouth, some stone fruit and rainwater, with nice balance of acidity and minerals. improved in the glass. (2407 views)
Tasted by Keith Levenberg on 5/1/2006 & rated 90 points: A milestone for New York Riesling, with the most prominent minerality i've ever gleaned from a New World wine. Comes across bone-dry with light, transparent fruit and a hint of flint or gunpowder supporting its chalky texture. (2917 views)

(Hermann J. Wiemer Riesling Dry) A beautiful wine with a citrusy, lime-driven nose and crisp apple, pear and citrus flavors. Balanced with fresh acidity, the finish is longer than you might expect.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
