Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 87.5 pts. and median of 87 pts. in 70 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by trayhumphrey on 8/3/2017 & rated 89 points: A wonderful Marlborough wine! It has the crispness and tart citrus I've come to expect from the region, but is not overly tart. Community drink dates ended 2016, but this is still good summer 2017. (3251 views)
Tasted by Mike Kopanski on 2/23/2017 & rated 88 points: This is really very good. Handled an overnight with the cap off very well. Nicely complete and balanced with a rather rich mouth feel for a Sauvignon Blanc. Richly pungent grassy New Zealand style nose. Mild golden color. Sharp entry of herbal laced fresh crushed lemon and lime. Positive acid profile. Spicy citrus finish. (3816 views)
Tasted by guzmana on 1/9/2017 & rated 90 points: This wine is a joy. Nice nose of citrus fruits including perhaps a touch of grapefruit. The taste is citrusy also with some pineapple. Great freshness, not sophistication but very nice, and a great price. (3496 views)
Tasted by osailhan on 1/8/2017 & rated 84 points: Un sauvignon blanc frais avec des notes d'agrumes et fruits à chaire blanche. Du style un peu exubérant mais bien fait et à prix correct. (3443 views)
Tasted by Decanthor on 9/7/2016 & rated 88 points: As always, our go-to weekday SB under $10. This had a crisp minerality to it tonight...more than I remember from 2014 vintage. (3348 views)
 Tasted by Soteriologist on 8/6/2016 & rated 90 points: Day 1: 91, days 2 and 3: 90, day 4: 89.

A slightly enthusiastic rating from a Sauvignon Blanc noob who is almost ashamed to condone such a mainstream product I picked up at a supermarket.

After my previous encounters with the 2014 Henri Bourgeois Sauvignon Blanc Petit Clos and the 2013 Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc Cellar Selection I had expected having to debunk the need to fly this into Germany of all places all the way from New Zealand, but ended up a convert and marking it as a very reasonably priced excellent basic summer white and a nice intermittent change from my usual Riesling routine.

Nose nettles, pickled shallots, grapefruit, wet hay. Palate grass, silver onions, lime (the grapefruit is distant here), salt and minerality, long.

This is day 3 and keeps up almost perfectly, except the fruit has become a bit stronger versus the herbal and vegetal notes on day 1, but not deteriorating. Hence a good distance runner which is important for a single drinker like me.

Just uploaded this little video on this. (1971 views)
Tasted by mazik on 7/27/2016 & rated 91 points: Bell pepper and mango, an interesting combination. (900 views)
Tasted by cheesaman on 7/20/2016 & rated 87 points: Decent NZ Sauv Blanc, crisp and refreshing, lots of grapefruit jumping out of the glass. (1814 views)
Tasted by Don Jose on 7/9/2016 & rated 88 points: Apple, lemon and citrus. Lightly salty on the finish. Greatly prefer the 2014 and 2015 Crossings. (1575 views)
Tasted by Bam_Man on 6/23/2016 & rated 89 points: Grass, citrus and melon notes galore on both the nose and palate. This is very fruity, but has a lively acidity which keeps it balanced. The long, spicy finish features a pleasant minerality. Tangy, complex and refreshing. A great pairing with seafood. Excellent value too.

Tasted by bluefrog on 6/12/2016 & rated 86 points: Zesty with green apples a straightforward wine for the summer, will match most palates. Just be careful might come across as slightly acidic. (1471 views)
Tasted by cheesaman on 6/5/2016 & rated 87 points: Lots of grapefruit, clean and crisp. Very simple wine. (1324 views)
Tasted by texaswinelover on 5/29/2016: Tropical notes, deliciously refreshing, mid weight. Very nice especially for the tariff. (1234 views)
Tasted by Jobu on 5/22/2016 & rated 90 points: Lime, lemon, grapefruit with minerals and solid acidity. Damn good for $11. I've found my summer wine. (1215 views)
Tasted by Joerg65 on 5/21/2016 & rated 89 points: Very nice SB with a very good QPR ! (1096 views)
Tasted by mazik on 5/13/2016 & rated 91 points: Almost clear in the glass. Rocking tropical fruit aromas predominate, passionfruit, guava, pineapple, grapefruit peel. Juicy. Steely or stony minerality on the palate. Lovely stuff as cheap as chips. (1101 views)
Tasted by furukama on 4/16/2016 & rated 88 points: Very bright yellow. Green fruits, spices, papaya, passion fruit, mango. Balanced acidity. Not too complex. (1144 views)
Tasted by K&J on 4/14/2016 & rated 87 points: Very typical New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc flavor profile, complete with grapefruit juice! Simple but delicious. (1105 views)
Tasted by Rozenhart on 4/11/2016 & rated 89 points: Fles 2:

Oog: Zeer licht geel.
Mooie zuur - zoet - bitterbalans.

(1154 views)
Tasted by Baltimore Wino on 3/13/2016 & rated 88 points: Clear & light green with distinct legs
Nose - melon & apricot
Taste - nice acidity, starts with melon, some minerality, long finish with light grassiness, kiwi, & grapefruit (1280 views)
Tasted by Rozenhart on 2/29/2016 & rated 89 points: Fles 1:

Oog: Zeer licht geel.

(1265 views)
Tasted by evanqian on 2/19/2016 & rated 86 points: light straw/green hue. pungent tropical and grassy flavours, rich, crispy acidity, medium finish with good dryness. textbook style, not complex, but has everything you expected in a Marlborough SB. very good on typicality.

Tasted by benjaminpaul on 12/9/2015 & rated 89 points: A beautifully sweet wine, nose of citrus (mandarin, lemon), passionfruit. Palate is similar, with minor green notes.

Very sweet, but enjoyable and beautifully made wine that's full of flavour. It isn't too green either like the previous vintage. (1353 views)
Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 9/23/2015 & rated 92 points: Very light green-tinged yellow color; aromatic, smoke, tart white grapefruit, lime nose; very tasty, delineated, tart lime, mineral palate with racy medium acidity; medium-plus finish (740 views)
