| Community Tasting Notes (average 94.1 pts. and median of 94 pts. in 11 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Kirk Grant on 5/30/2021: In a lovely space...everyone was really pleased with this. It paired beautifully with Stilton, salted mixed-nuts, and most things on our charcuterie board. I have one bottle left, and see no reason why it could not continue to age another decade plus, but it is in a beautiful spot right now. Great acidity on palate, with (as everyone seems to get here) orange zest, mixed nuts, caramel. Finish of walnuts that lists for minutes. Quite young and very fresh. This has decades ahead. What a treat. (1864 views) | | Tasted by Hanibal on 7/29/2018 & rated 94 points: Very impressive. Still has great acidity to balance the sweetness. Entry is on orange peel and the finish is nutty. Very long and delicious. None of our invitees ate cake (except one maybe) they all decided to just sip on this as we listened to Edith Piaf. A very memorable experience. This was the wine of the night (2960 views) | | Tasted by AudunG on 10/1/2017 & rated 95 points: Light brown, and much lighter than the 1933 tasted same evening. Also sweeter and less tannic than the 1933. Seems to contain more white grapes. It also lacks the rancio notes of the 33. Anyway, a great Rivesaltes with plenty of fruit and intense concentration. (2944 views) | | Tasted by lukaduke on 8/20/2017 & rated 94 points: Blood orange, leather, violets, old wood, tobacco, brown sugar, date, lemon rind, green coffee beans. Mouthfeel was silky and a touch viscous with bright acidity playing counter balance to the wood soaked mature bass notes. A pleasure to drink bringing aspects of vintage sercial madeira, tawny port and vin santo. Une acidité encore tellement vivante, un fruit si présent, c'est incroyable la longévité de ce vin. Un équilibre parfait, sucre bien dosé. Peut rester en cave encore quelques décennies sans problème. J'ai ADORÉ ! (3062 views) | | Tasted by cweiss on 1/28/2017: Tet. It was fun because it was old, but not a lot of enthusiasm among us Riesling lovers. Alcohol about 17% (1930 views) | | Tasted by Kirk Grant on 7/16/2016: This was a wonderful surprise...The nose reminds me a bit like standing in the middle of an antique store. Surrounded by aged woods and old leather. On the palate there's a vibrancy that seems largely due to the laser-like acidity that seems to beam a path down the palate then part like the wake of a boat, constantly expanding beyond the notes of citrus. This was an amazing wine...and should continue to age effortlessly for another 5-10 years with good storage, maybe longer. I don't have much experience with Rivesaltes. (2708 views) |
