Tasted by chelidon on 1/1/2021 & rated 88 points: About at the end of it's run, but still a solid hit, nice pairing with a rosemary lamb shank. (712 views)
Tasted by garetjax_kison on 11/10/2020 & rated 86 points: Popped and poured. Similar notes as before. (703 views)
Tasted by kmicho on 7/11/2020 & rated 90 points: Love this. Awesome QPR. Tremendously well balanced. (825 views)
Tasted by hcnate on 11/27/2019 & rated 88 points: Perhaps my pallet is changing, but this one tasted different. Strong Syrah, but did not really pull through the other wines. I noticed a bit more of the ABV burn too. (1086 views)
Tasted by hcnate on 8/2/2019 & rated 91 points: Lovely fruit bomb again, always a pleasure to consume. I like the body on the wine - really lucious. (1184 views)
Tasted by garetjax_kison on 6/23/2019 & rated 86 points: Popped and poured making dinner. Decent QPR. Not loving the blend - the syrah is overpowering everything else. (762 views)
Tasted by BC28 on 10/14/2018: This wine was undrinkably bad, we poured it down the sink. (1073 views)
Tasted by hcnate on 10/6/2018 & rated 91 points: This wine is pretty underrated in the cellar, but always generates a really good response. Bright red, luscious. (891 views)
Tasted by MsDee on 10/1/2018 & rated 90 points: Very delicious. Big fruit, spice, longer finish. Buy again! (753 views)
Tasted by Christine Havens on 5/27/2018 & rated 90 points: Winemaker Dave Phinney has captured the spirit of Washington State Syrah, accented by Merlot, and Petit Sirah. His latest Locations WA-4 is rife with sumptuous blueberries, blackberries, cassis, vanilla, incense; it's medium-bodied in the mouth with a core of sweet, juicy fruit nicely counterbalanced and bound by acidity and powdery tannins. A finish of bay leaf, cocoa, and warm spice. 15.0% ABV | Sample (1258 views)
Tasted by 1winemaven on 3/30/2018 & rated 92 points: Lovely, easy drinking Washington red. Dave Phinney seldom disappoints.... (1154 views)
Tasted by saxwizerd45 on 3/4/2018 & rated 88 points: Thick and dark as motor oil, took 24 hours to come around for me. Dark fruit, mocha syrup, coffee. Best on its own and also best served a little cooler. Actually contains the high alcohol with the massive fruit and density. (1092 views)
Tasted by Alok Kapoor on 3/2/2018 & rated 91 points: Loved it. Fruit forward. Great finish. (923 views)
Tasted by hcnate on 1/28/2018 & rated 90 points: Ground pound wine, really nice with big beautiful fruit. Still very powerful. (916 views)
Tasted by Minne Lusa on 11/30/2017 & rated 89 points: Nose is crushed blackberry and white flowers. Color is deep and inky. This blend is rich and smooth. Blackberry, cherry, cocoa, and just a touch of mint. The finish shows developing cedar notes which should become more apparent over the next 2-3 years. This one stands out from other Washington wines for it's almost complete lack of peppery, acidic bite. (727 views)
Tasted by Smudge4! on 11/18/2017 & rated 89 points: Nice easy drinking Syrah. Yummy and ready (622 views)
Tasted by In vino potestus est on 10/27/2017 & rated 86 points: Dark purple. Oak and eucalyptus dominate the nose. A silky smooth palate with flavors of dark berries, plums and cocoa. Mild tannins. Medium body. Medium finish. Straight forward and easy drinking. Recommend drinking now. (663 views)
Tasted by UpfromtheCellar on 10/3/2017 & rated 88 points: BIG, smooth, a little flabby (chill it some - it helps) decent qpr, mouth coating. Great with Pizza. Definitely an Eastern Washington Syrah blended something or another. (981 views)
Tasted by 1winemaven on 6/7/2017 & rated 92 points: Loved this one - lived up to my expectations for a Dave Phinney blend. Wish I had bought more! (1233 views)
Tasted by Jdog on 6/1/2017 & rated 85 points: I am surprised by the relatively glowing reviews for this wine. I have generally liked the "Locations" bottlings that I have tried, but this wine was simply too over the top. I aerated the wine with a Vinturi into a large Riedel decanter.
Color - opaque blackish/purple. Nose is overly candied and the wine was simply syrupy, with spoofilated black fruit and no definition. If you like blackberry syrup, you will love this wine. You are better off buying Columbia Crest (which I do not recommend!). (1301 views)
Tasted by hcnate on 5/3/2017 & rated 90 points: I said this was "pretty powerful" wine, wife thought it left her thirsty. I enjoyed the wine, really thin and rich. Tons of blueberries and strawberries. Very much a Washington wine. (1315 views)
Tasted by ChopperWine on 4/20/2017 & rated 89 points: Enjoyed equally as much as I did on 1/6/17. Lovely, inky, dark purple with a fruit forward (albeit one-dimensional) plum & blueberry nose. Sweet and peppery throughout. (856 views)
Tasted by jmprtt06 on 4/16/2017: Maggie and Don for Easter dinner (1263 views)
Tasted by Ryan G on 3/25/2017 & rated 91 points: Dark fruit, blueberry, spice, nice finish. Opened up nicely after 30 minutes. Great wine. (1054 views)
Tasted by RMacFMayer on 3/18/2017 & rated 90 points: Let it breath- very dark wine that hits its stride after 30-40 minutes - smooth black berries, currants and cherries. Coats the tongue and left me looking for more. (738 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

Washington Wine
Washington State is a premium wine producing region located in the northwest corner of the United States. Although a relatively young wine industry, it is now the nation's second largest wine producer and is ranked among the world's top wine regions. Washington wines are found nationally in all 50 states and internationally in more than 40 countries.

Wineries
With 30,000+ acres planted, the state has ideal geography and conditions for growing premium vinifera wine grapes. Primarily grown on their own root stocks, the vines produce grapes of consistent quality, resulting in strong vintages year after year. While its focus is on Chardonnay, Riesling, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, the region also produces a wide range of other spectacular whites and reds.

Growers
Winemakers from all over the world have chosen to establish themselves in Washington, where they can create wines reflecting this region's unique characteristics. Their hand-crafted wines are receiving wide acclaim from critics regionally, nationally and internationally for their consistently high quality. Many of them have received scores of 90 and above from the major wine media. Overall this is a higher percentage than other leading wine regions.

Regions
As the state's fourth largest fruit crop, the Washington wine industry is an important contributor to the long-term preservation of Washington agriculture. The industry is committed to sustainable agricultural practices and conservation of water resources.

Varieties
Washington produces more than 20 wine grape varieties - a ratio of 56 percent white to 44 percent red. As the industry matures and experiments, it finds many grape varieties that thrive throughout Washington's microclimates. There are more than 16,000 vineyard acres of red wine varieties statewide.

History & Vintages
Washington's wine future is limitless. As consumers discover the quality of Washington wines, demand continues to grow nationally and internationally. New acreage and wine varietals are being planted and new wineries are opening at a remarkable pace. Washington State is recognized as a premium viticultural region around the world.

State Facts
Washington's wine industry generates more than $3 billion to the state economy. It employs more than 14,000 people, directly and indirectly, with projections to add nearly 2,000 more jobs by 2006. In terms of tax revenues accrued to the state and federal government, wine grapes are among the highest tax generators of any agricultural crops. Furthermore, Washington wine tourism attracts nearly two million visitors annually contributing to the positive growth of local and regional economies.
Washington State - the perfect climate for wine = ideal growing conditions, quality wines, business innovation, lifestyle, and social responsibility. All are key elements of this world-class wine industry.

Vintages
"2008 and even more so 2010 and 2011 were cool, even cold vintages (think: 2002 in the Barossa) without the extreme ripeness, extract and higher alcohol that had become the norm in the state’s post 1995 world. 2008 was manageable but the duo of 2010/2011 nearly caused a “great depression” in Washington State." - Jon Rimmerman
