Very nice with some grapefruit flavors. (356 views) | | Tasted by Thewaterdoctor on 9/23/2017 & rated 87 points: Clean with strong grapefruit on the nose. Grapefruit with pear and green apple on the tongue. Nice wine, (too!) easy to drink. (992 views) | | Tasted by Neecies on 11/20/2016 & rated 83 points: Very pleasant, but nondescript and 'safe', a quaffer. Lacks character and intensity. (939 views) | | Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 11/6/2015 & rated 87 points: Blind California Whites: Pale straw color. Grapefruit, guava and kiwi on the nose mixed in with white pepper and grassy notes. Creamy-waxy body but a good amount of freshness from the acid though. The grapefruit, yellow apple and kiwi fruit is ripe and juicy but keeps a crunchy bite. Notes of white pepper, cut grass and a combination of salt and crushed chalk, quite pleasant. Mostly fermented in stainless steel with a bit of old oak, this includes 5% Semillon as well. (1500 views) |
| Atalon Producer websiteSauvignon Blanc Varietal CharacterUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)Napa ValleySt. Helena |
