(428 views) | | Tasted by Lobonick on 9/15/2018 & rated 89 points: I do quite like this wine. Rich and flavorful with tertiary flavors starting to show through nicely. (570 views) | | Tasted by Lobonick on 10/23/2017 & rated 90 points: Soft and pleasant all around. Nose is medium intensity with plum, black fruit, floral notes, spices, and white pepper. Palate is gorgeously soft with milk chocolate and espresso. Tannins and acidity are very balanced. Finish shows some earthiness and lasts a spectacularly long time. Not sure how much longer this will last, but it’s great now. (774 views) | | Tasted by Lobonick on 4/14/2016 & rated 91 points: Officially an NV wine, but this one was made from 2014 fruit. This is a fun, mystery wine that the winemaker would only tell me was made from Bordeaux varieties grown in Virginia. He warned me to decant and allow to breathe before drinking. Nose is beautiful and strong with plum, red fruit, spices, black pepper, and bay leaf. Palate is medium-bodied with notes of licorice and sweet fruit that should become toffee, coffee, and milk chocolate with time. Finish is long. This is a startling great wine. (844 views) |
| Pearmund Cellars Producer web siteRed Blend.USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.Virginia Virginia Wines (Virginia Wineries Association) |
