Tasted by ONEFIVE on 12/17/2022: PnP
Dark red fruit and fresh tobacco on the nose with just a slight hint of toasty oak.
Pure silk on the palate bursting with fruit and intensity. It is medium to full body with medium acidity and strong tannin.
This wine is a powerhouse that is still drinking well. The tannin may never fully integrate so enjoy now and over the next 10+ years with a steak! (508 views)
Tasted by ONEFIVE on 2/6/2022: Brilliant deep blood red in the glass.
The nose is pure cassis, vanilla, black cherry and black licorice.
In the mouth it’s fully integrated. Full body, moderate acidity, and light chalky tannin.
This is fantastic. A pleasure to drink now and likely 10+ years of enjoyment. (876 views)
Tasted by ONEFIVE on 3/28/2021: Fully agree with recent reviews.
Powerful red and black fruit on the nose. A touch of graphite, wet stone, baking spice and tobacco.
Perfectly integrated on the palate. Tannins are fully refined and sweet. This wine is peaking! (1197 views)
Tasted by rmcnees on 9/12/2020 & rated 95 points: This wine was superb, dark garnet colored, medium full bodied, elegant, polished and balanced, nearly flawless concentrated blackberry and black currant fruits with a symphony of seamlessly integrated flavor notes of mocha chocolate, vanilla, hints of licorice, violet, spice, tobacco leaf and black olive, turning to smooth velvety mouthfeel and silky tannins on a long sensual finish.

Tasted by The Wine Sherpa on 1/6/2020 & rated 95 points: Another big bold Cliff Lede classic cab. Great fruit and longevity. Still young and can age longer. (1777 views)
Tasted by The Wine Sherpa on 2/11/2018 & rated 94 points: This is an impressive wine as it should be for the price. Still plenty of dark fruit the attack and mid palate with fairly strong tannins. This wine can last at least 4-5 more peak years although my cork disintegrated when I opened this wine and had to strain it out of the bottle. Some tobacco and wood notes on the mid palate and a long finish and complex wine. (2252 views)
Tasted by winopops3 on 9/16/2017 & rated 96 points: I always loved this vintage, and this particular wine is a fantastic example. This still has a core beautiful dark fruit. Secondary characteristics starting to show with tobacco and cedar. Very complex and long finish. One of the best wines of the year for me. I think this could have gone another 10 years well stored. (2595 views)
Tasted by Coachron13 on 5/6/2017 & rated 95 points: Cork crumbled while attempting to remove, had to strain wine out of bottle. This is still stellar. This bottle seemed to drink a little younger than the last couple. Probably 2-3 years left at peak based on this one. (2639 views)
Tasted by Coachron13 on 11/28/2016 & rated 95 points: Very similar to last bottle. In a slightly mellow state, fruit isn't dominant any more but is still plentiful. Still drinks great, but would still suggest finishing these within the next year or so. If you have a magnum....lucky you, can wait much longer!!!! (2708 views)
Tasted by SonnyChiba on 7/19/2016: Disappointing. Nose was nice, but a bit off balanced with too much heat on the palate. (2935 views)
Tasted by Coachron13 on 5/8/2016 & rated 95 points: Still drinking beautifully. Certainly at peak or slightly past, suggest drinking these in the next year or two to maximize enjoyment. (2251 views)
Tasted by Coachron13 on 2/1/2016 & rated 95 points: Still an outstanding cab, but maybe just a slight cut below our bottle from six months ago. The big fruit is mellowing slightly. I would drink these up this year and maybe next. (1964 views)
Tasted by magic2coop on 1/3/2016 & rated 95 points: Really coming together as a mature wine. Velvety tannins, slight taste of mocha, but a pretty seamless cab. Enjoy. (1754 views)
Tasted by Coachron13 on 8/3/2015 & rated 97 points: Unbelievably great wine. Drinking at its absolute peak right now. Does not need a long decant, you can enjoy this one soon after opening. Still has plenty of fruit in it, probably a year or two away from having that fruit start fading a little. (1739 views)
Tasted by chitownmb on 8/1/2015 & rated 94 points: Plush, rich, and smooth, with a pleasing finish. (699 views)
Tasted by magic2coop on 5/8/2014 & rated 94 points: Dark ruby color with the characteristic loamy aroma and herbal undertones. Mostly dark berry and slight mocha taste. Long finish. Hitting a sweet spot. (2345 views)
Tasted by magic2coop on 3/19/2014 & rated 95 points: Like drinking velvet. At a great spot right now. (2200 views)
Tasted by jennygoldberg on 2/21/2014: Baked ham, bacon, savory qualities, spice, all dark fruits here, med+ tannin, med acid (2187 views)
Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 2/21/2014 & rated 92 points: Dark red violet color; maturing, roast coffee, tart black currant nose; rich, raspberry puree, roast coffee, tart black currant palate; medium-plus finish (95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot; 14.81% alcohol; 24 months in oak) (582 views)
Tasted by drbdorfman on 11/8/2013 & rated 93 points: Balanced, long finish, cassis, tobacco. Very nice showing of the Stags leap district (2419 views)
Tasted by KeithSurg on 2/3/2013 & rated 94 points: Better than previous bottle, but this is my last one. Big and rich, with layers of mocha and vanilla integrated with bold dark fruit. (2525 views)
Tasted by KeithSurg on 12/17/2012 & rated 91 points: This was a massive, almost sweet wine on release, and has really toned down over the years. Color still dark, almost purple. Nicely balanced, creamy texture. Has lost some of it's wow factor, though. Drink now. (2136 views)
Tasted by theguy on 8/24/2012 & rated 92 points: Rich, leather, clay soil tones, viscous on the tongue, mellow tannins. (2379 views)
Tasted by J-Sho on 7/18/2011 & rated 94 points: Big bold wine with dark fruits such as blackberry and currant. Also just a bit of cola and cinnamon as well. Complex palate still with some tannins. Long finish. My last bottle but this could easily still age for another 5 or more years. (3254 views)
Tasted by J-Sho on 11/21/2010: this was awesome but drank long ago so no tasting note (3278 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
