Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 90.8 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 25 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Bruce 1er on 5/18/2022 & rated 90 points: Citrus flavors (especially lime, lemon), and green apples. Pleasant crisp finish. (664 views)
Tasted by angryphoton on 12/25/2021 & rated 93 points: Gorgeous chablis, a tad of the fuller side but has enough electrifying acidity to hold the wine in balance. Long finish with a really nice mouthfeel, seamless and smooth with nothing poking out of place. The only nit pick is that it is a bit outside the mold of "traditional" chablis because of its fuller body. (654 views)
Tasted by Shiaxonna on 2/12/2021 & rated 92 points: Wonderful, open right from the bottle. Citrusy, fresh, concentrated and pure mouthwatering delightfulness... (831 views)
Tasted by aagrawal on 11/19/2020 & rated 94 points: Dinner with the wine group (Zoom): Yellow-gold, youthful color; medium-plus aromatics, sulfur, hard to detect underlying notes but white fruit and lemon-lime?; palate is full bodied, medium-plus acidity, medium alcohol, really persistent acidity through the midpalate; long finish. This seems like a GC white burgundy, maybe 2014? Really nice showing for this wine on reveal. 94 (1326 views)
Tasted by collin on 4/17/2020: So good. More than any other Chablis I know, De Moor's wines are chiseled straight from rock with a squeeze of lemon and this is no exception. Very compact... It's not exactly a deep tasting history, but I don't know if I've had one that has unfurled; I look forward to that experience. (1063 views)
Tasted by Gargantua on 9/29/2019: Just lovely--the nose is remarkably champenois. Really brought to mind a well-made blanc de blancs millesime. Wish I had more. (1431 views)
Tasted by aekenback on 12/25/2018 & rated 90 points: Not as open and delicious as Humeur de Temps from the same producer consumer earlier this year. This might well turn out even better, but breda time. (1263 views)
Tasted by Billigan on 12/18/2017 & rated 91 points: This wine really transformed over three nights. On opening, it seemed like a total dud, somehow combining an almost shrill lime quality with a a tiring sweetness on the finish. Two nights later, and it had blossomed into a beautiful Chablis, with a cool chalky minerality and a lovely sense of both balance and richness on the palate. Clearly a wine to lay down for some time, or give extended aeration if opening now. (2089 views)
Tasted by Gargantua on 11/4/2017: Oh, man, I’d forgotten just what racy 2014 white Burgs were like and this is like a homecoming. Such acidity, sears the mineral aromas into your palate. Tons of citrus, struck match, and crushed shells and just a tiny bit of honey. This is not oxidative in any way whatsoever— wondered about that after a 2012 I’d tried recently. So delighted to have 2 more bottles. (2071 views)
(2713 views)
Tasted by kfinsrud on 7/4/2017 & rated 90 points: Dekantert 1 time. Textbook Chablis! (2196 views)
Tasted by maiorano.andrea@gmail.com on 3/25/2017 & rated 90 points: The wine looks greenish gold colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It tastes like almond and citrus fruits. The body is medium/full. The wine finishes long. The wine has high acidity. (1886 views)
Tasted by Lilja on 1/21/2017 & rated 89 points: A bit natural on the nose with slightly oxidized fruit, corn on the cobs, yellow apples. a bit of wet wool and a touch of wet stones. Very dry on the palate with distinct acidity and a nice, long refreshing finish. Drinks well now, but will surely keep for a few years. (1653 views)
Tasted by Bourgognefreak on 10/19/2016 & rated 91 points: A very drinkable and stringent Wine with a precise acidity. After some time it opens up, becomes more round and develops a creamy note which makes it nice with food. (1455 views)
Tasted by RaphaelMalago on 10/11/2016 & rated 90 points: De Moor, Bel Air et Clardy, Chablis, 2014 - Alice has been for me one of the best discoveries in the last year. Its a perfect textbook Chablis, delicious tropical fruits, oyster shell, citrus. The palate has an interesting weight and creaminess that differs ir from the others. Beautiful citrus aftertaste. (1047 views)
Tasted by the godfather on 9/23/2016: Phenomenal, need more of this (1103 views)
Tasted by aekenback on 7/25/2016 & rated 91 points: Lovely concentrated and elegant flavors. Very nicely balanced and drinking quite well in this young stage. I'm confident this will improve even more with ageing. (1119 views)
Tasted by LW31 on 7/12/2016 & rated 90 points: First time out with '14 of this. Delicious, taut, primary, citrus bomb, mineral. Really fantastic but for best results I would give other bottles a year or two to settle and deepen. But damn tasty now too... (1133 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio

Chablis

Chablis (Fédération de Défense de l'Appellation Chablis) | Chablis (Burgundy Wines)

2014 Vintage Notes:
"... a hybrid of 2004/2007 and 2010. The stone, citrus and limestone amalgam is exactly what we search for in Chablis as the style harkens to a day in the Cote de Beaune proper (1960's - 1980's) when wine was not meant to be consumed the week it was released, battonage was not used by all and new oak was rarely seen ... the texture is natural and 'of the vintage' not 'of the winemaker' .... Like Sancerre or the Loire in general, 2014 in Chablis is one of those rare years with extract and transparency. It appears to be a vintage for the "neoclassic" ages and those of us intent on cellaring the most terroir-driven (but still powerful) examples of vineyard, site-place and varietal will want to invest (heavily) in the magnetic and electric 2014's." - Jon Rimmerman

2018 Vintage Notes:
"There’s not that razor sharp Chablis acidity in 2018,” says Patrick Piuze. “But there is good definition of place. The dry conditions drove vines to drink deeper down in the soil profile."
