| Community Tasting Notes (average 88 pts. and median of 86 pts. in 3 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by H. Eugene on 5/6/2020 & rated 86 points: This wine needed a long decant (4-5 hours), but it did finally open up and this is a good every day wine. Nothing complex nor complicated, but decent. (198 views) | | Tasted by Mootsie on 11/15/2017 & rated 92 points: Black cherry, pepper, tobacco, espresso. Rich, spicy. Finishes long and slightly tannic. Great wine. (546 views) | | Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 12/4/2016 & rated 86 points: Some Colorado Wines: Deep ruby color. Aromas of red and black currant, dark coffee, violets, cola, some green herb scents. Full-bodied with grippy tannins and black and red currant fruit. Notes of dark coffee, pencil shavings, anise and cinnamon spice add some complexity. A bit dense, this could use a few years of sleep. A bit heavy on the oak, but a nicely made Bordeaux blend of 52% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Malbec. (540 views) |
| Bookcliff Vineyards Producer websiteRed Blend.USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.Colorado Colorado Wines (Colorado Wine Industry Development Board) |
