Pretty scorching acidity, but still plenty of life. Rather impressive, although I think more recent vintages have a more full fruit profile. Nez très discret voir fermé (idem après 24h).
La bouche sur des fines saveurs d'acacia, silex, citron. Aromatic nose, very concentrated taste, long finish. Citrus, apples, amazing minerality, florality, white flowers. Depth and balance. Combination with white asparagus and tarragon hollandaise sauce was breathtaking, many Chardonnays would have struggled. (844 views) | | Tasted by KeithAkers on 2/15/2017 & rated 92 points: French wines and French food (Bar Marta): Nose: The nose is open and aromatic with meyer lemons, lanolin, pears, some matchstick notes, minerals, apples, yellow fruits, and white florals. There is excellent depth with a higher-toned quality to it all.
Taste: Full bodied with high acidity. The acidity is extremely youthful, but it also provides an excellent spine. There is a lot of depth and balance to the feel with meyer lemons, lanolin, pears, apples, white florals, and yellow fruits.
Overall: This is a fantastic, young Savennieres. It shows a great deal of poise and balance already, but it has a ton to offer in another 3-5+ years. (1797 views) | | Tasted by rossi.wine on 4/19/2016 & rated 91 points: A bit of wool, riper and warmer fruit compared to Cuvée à Françoise. A little floral with hints of honey on the nose. Impressive mineral core, lots of bright acidity, a bit tart and grippy, but very long. Needs time. 90-91+ (1628 views) |

Vineyards on weinagen-infoAnjou-SaumurSee an excellent article on Vinography.SavennièresSavennières is a small, relatively well-known Loire Valley region producing wines made from the chenin blanc grape.
They are not conventionally fruity, and benefit from extensive aging.
Savennieres often have smells like white truffles and animal notes, even when young. They can last for a tremendous amount of time, and some people mistake the evolved aromas after 10-20 years with oxidization, but I have yet to taste an oxidised chenin blanc, since the amount and type of acidity (many g/l and tartaric) preserve the fruit in a much more effective way than e.g. chardonnay.
